You need to plan for:
Hotel costs-$139.00 a night plus taxes Hotel Parking-$15 to $30 a night depending Food-$50 a day Con Packages-anywhere from $5 (Sat & Sun, no goodies) to $375 (figure set and all attendee functions including Sat dinnner) Con Add Ons-$250 (varies) Spending Cash for Vendors-I usually plan around $200 to $500 (including room-to-room sales at night) Activites-Varies, depending on what you want to do after hours Travel-also varies, depending on how you want to get there As for the seminars, I haven't been to one that I wasn't hosting in quite a while, but they are usually pretty good. Not to mention the contests...always fun to look at/participate in. Also, if you want to see the venue, the 2001 Con was at the same place in KC (I attended) and you can see some pics on the GIJCC website. The hotel is nice, and there are a few things to do around the hotel downtown, but I wouldn't plan on venturing too far, or plan anything too extravagent. Union Station is across the way, and there is a small shopping mall underground with restraunts and stuff. You do want to make sure and grab some BBQ while your there though...it's pretty good stuff. Don't know about this year yet. The club has been running behind on Joe Con prep due to the TF Con, and most likely I won't know until closer to the date. As for a table, no I won't. I did this last year and it was great, but I usually just work out of my room.

Dude! I was wondering the same!
Can someone else speak of the awesomeness of JoeCon? I'm cheap.

I was kind of curious about this as well. I plan on attending, since it's only about 3.5 hours away driving...
Also, are there disadvantages of getting a 'cheaper' hotel somewhere else in the area? Other than cockroaches of course! EDIT: Wow, WAY off on my estimated driving time, its only about 3.5 hours for me instead of 8... lol Last edited by nickvree; 03-31-2009 at 05:26 PM.. |

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but at JoeCon do they have alot of dealers selling vintage joes. As I stated in an earlier thread, getting sick of being ripped off on ebay. I was thinking about just taking a trip out to JoeCon, doing a massive vintage sweep. That way I will see what I am getting and not have to deal with ebay.
