This will be my first con and am following this thread. Might just be me but it seems a little confusing about cost. I don't want to be surprised by any hidden costs.
We have the membership, then the cost of the exclusive if we want that. It is my understanding that a purchase of the package gets you the chance to get in line for the set and to get access to Thurs and Fri activities, and in early on sat. Is there a way to get in early on fri or sat without buying an exclusive set? And to supermanblue's question, wouldn't the extra cost for others just be if they are to have early access? If I want to go early but everyone else in my party arrive as general admission on sat, you would not need the extra cost/membership, right? Just the admission at the door on sat? Thanks. |

So I have a question for those of you that have gone to multiple Cons and have brought non-Club members and or kids. I went to the con in Springfield and brought my dad and son. In order for my dad to go I had to pay the $100+ fee for the "Attendee Aid". WTH is that first of all? The Aid gets no benefits except to walk around and essentially hold my bags haha. My son is 10 now and I fear that I may have to pay for him and my dad again. I emailed the club and asked why someone coming just for the fun has to pay so much to do nothing. No response yet, shocker right. Anyway, the last few years have you guys still had to pay the 190ish for your kids to go? Or do you just purchase an extra package in their name? My thing is the extra money could be spent on other items. Let me know what you guys think.

Superman Blue,
I've been twice with my wife (she is a brave soul!) One year we did the aid package so we could go to the casino night and the next year we went ahead and got the full package so she could get the 12" set and I could get the 3-3/4" set. She was also able to buy stuff in the club store that she resold to offset the cost of the extra ticket. |

My dad is a collector of toys and appreciates the hobby and GI Joe, gave me half of what I have now and when I was a kid. Don't have to love it. Same with my son he has his own stuff he collects but likes Joe too. But 90 for a Kid. And even so all those things you mentioned are look only. They enjoy the experience. Free meal I get. But if you are going to let an "Aid" on the floor then why make them pay. Most would much rather take that money and more to use on the floor. I know I'm bitchin a little but just would rather spend my money on tangible items at the show.

The Sergeant’s Package ($215 for GIJCC members and $290 for others) includes: • Private Exhibitor Room Sales Event on Friday and Early Bird privileges on Saturday. Eight convention packages available! • Admittance to all convention seminars. • This package DOES NOT include the Casino Night Awards Din- ner and Auction event, tours, parks, class or any products.

Soak up every second of it even the 4-5 hour pick up/exclusives line. It will be the best waiting in line you have ever done. Be thorough on the sales floor, I've seen so many things in person for the first time there. I'm extremely shy so don't do what I do, talk to everyone.

Make a list of the stuff you're after on the sales floor, if that's what you're going to do...
I thought I'd be able to remember before going, but once there, I was somewhat overwhelmed and forgot.
