I think it would be really cool if the joe community did something cool to say thank you for all these years they have dedicated to GI Joe and its community. Any ideas?

They are a business. You are their customer. Please tell me you don't think there's more to it than that.

I'm not much of a participant, because of the cost, but I am pretty sure it is more than "just a business". Sure, they may make their living doing this ...or not...they might have other jobs to supplement...I have no idea of the income that this brings, but pretty sure they aren't "rolling in it". But the toys that they have made show that they have the fans in mind. I am pretty sure it is a lot of work to coordinate with Hasbro, creators, manufacturers....not something I could do, that is for sure. Yeah, there are some missteps, and seemingly really bad ideas from them. But we have some really good figures that they hit out of the ball park (Pythona, Frostbite, Footloose, Big Lob, Cross Country, etc...). It is more than just a business to these guys. That being said, even if it is still a business, I do show my appreciation for "just a business all the time". A thank-you note to the doctor, mechanic, etc. Kinda just courtesy. Not saying they deserve a gift or whatever...but it would be nice if the community showed some kinda appreciation rather than just thumbed their noses at them.

Yes I do. I have a business too. The best moments are when a customer actually takes the time to say thank you for all your efforts . It's not like the FP staff lives in mansions and drives Mercedes and takes their boats out to the lake on weekends . They dedicated 20 plus years of their lives to gi joe and US. They should be told thank you .

I don't envision this thread going well. But OP I think you have good intentions so good luck to you.

SS, you're a great guy and the sentiment here speaks volumes of your character.
Sadly, many feel that their hard earned money wasn't appreciated by the Club. Therefore, you may receive a less than warm reception to this idea. All - When responding, please remember the rules (not that anyone hasn't as of yet, but just stating now before we move further). |

As much as we give the Club shit, some deserved, some not, I think they do care about GI Joe. Also, don't underestimate how hogtied they can be at times because of Hasbro.
that being said, I'm not sure anything more than a Ron Swanson double handshake is in order here. |

In my opinion, I think this thread speaks a pretty good volume of thanks to the Club in itself. And I would just leave it at that, a simple thank you to the Club. There were several bad moments, that seem to be ongoing by the way, but no one is perfect. I love the idea that there was even a GI Joe Collector's Club to begin with and not only that, but to produce the amount of product for us in the past several years. And they continued to feed our collecting desires, whether it's 12" figures, 4" figures, ARAH, international, subteams, etc...the Club did do a great job.
And like CIAD said earlier, the creation of this thread "speaks volumes of your character." So you do have a great heart just doing this for the Club. |
