While I can't divulge all the details for the customs class until registration goes live, I did want to let you guys know that we should have all the paint, supplies and related materials on hand that you need to assemble your class figure. If you have a favorite brush or type of paint the you prefer to use, I would suggest that you maybe bring that.
We will be using standard hobby supply glue, accelerant, Testors Model Masters paints, and this year I was able to get some really decent Taklon #0 brushes for decent detail work. I still have the majority of the supplies from last years class, so those will be available as well. Those who attended last year should have a good idea. Keep your eyes peeled for registration notices and information on what parts to bring for your build and the character details. Those will be posted as soon as possible when registration goes up. Alyosha, you sure know how to torment a guy, reminding me about an event that I probably won't be able to attend. I'm just kidding of course, I'm just trying to avoid sour grapes. I have made travel plans around attending the customizing class, I'm hoping to use some of what I learn there to get started on some projects I have in mind for some of my joes. However the way registration is being delayed (I realize it has nothing to do with you), it will probably go up while I am in the middle of a big case at the hospital and fill up before I get a chance to register. While I do have small windows of opportunity at work to step aside and use a mobile device to register, this random timing of registration makes it kind of a crap shoot for getting into your class. Oh well. I have plenty of spring cleaning projects to do around the house during the con, since I already have the time off. I see we live in some proximity to each other. You don't happen to do classes around here do you? Best of luck with the class

Harv- Any time you are in Dallas and want to make time to visit, I offer that opportunity to locals and out of towners who are visiting. All I ask is a heads up at least a day early.
As for registration, I am hoping that it happens in short order as well. I feel for the guys at the Club facing these continuing issues. I'm sure they'd rather have things running smoothly instead. |

You have been warned. If you are on the fence, this is the 11th hour. So far, only four people have needed help so far this year, so there are still places open. From the Club today:
Hello everyone, At this point, we have very little faith that the programming company will finish the new software enough for registration to take place with the new version. We are very disappointed in this company and will be taking the appropriate action after the convention. We are diligently working on implementing our back-up plan. We are planning to bring one or the other online either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. Please note that non-attending packages will NOT be available until we close the attending registrations (which will only be open a few days). Unfortunately the backup solution doesn't have total flexibility to edit registration mistakes as it is half computer and half manual. Therefore, please read the brochure again. Go slowly during the registration process, and please DON"T pick the wrong items that are not allowed per the brochure. We will review and approve or disapprove each registration. The only option we have for errors is to delete the registration and let you start over, which could cause a supply issue if someone else gets the item before you re-register. Just a quick note on some of the rules: Golden Ticket packages can only have 1 GT Aide with them. Golden Ticket packages can order the other boxed sets as well if they want more than one boxed set. American Hero and/or General's packages can have up to 4 aides. For the 3 3/4" loose sets, you are only allowed one loose figure set per boxed set. Don't pick the Thursday Class and the Thursday Walking Tour as you can't be in 2 paces at the same time. Please make sure you put in the proper field (on the registration) all of the package holder's name(s) and which package they are assigned to. The software doesn't know any of these rules, so it's up to you to follow them (as we do know the rules). Thanks for your patience and I assure you we are more upset than you are.... PS. The store will be offline until after registration is complete. |

If you got in the class, you need to bring a Rise of COBRA Accelerator Suit figure for the build. Smalljoes has them on the cheap.

Last year the schedule said the class is 8 hours long. Is it really that long? If we can't get there for the beginning are we still safe to show up and get the custom parts in the later hours of the class?
Thanks. |

JediJones- No. It all depends on how long you want to stay, but I will say that you ARE going to want to stay and build your figure. I'm not supposed to allow anyone in if they show up more than 15 minutes late. Bear that in mind if you paid for the class.
The Club and myself are working very hard to discourage people from just showing up whenever, picking up their parts and putting them on EBay. The Club (in the past) has gone so far as to say if you show up later than allowed, too bad. Your SOL. We want people in the class who actually WANT to take the class. |

I signed up and am very excited. I think I have a couple of accelerator suit figures, so looking forward to this a lot. I haven't started wearing readers yet (if you don't know what that is, be glad) BUT if we are doing some detailed painting I will probably bring my jeweler glasses. As for 8 hours, I may need that much time...Alyosha, I hope some of your greatness rubs off!
