Someone asked this way back on page 1 or 2 and it never got answered, so here is the way it works at the con with the toys:
When you pay for a registration to the con, you have the choice to register to get a 15 figure set (for $275) or just to attend the con and receive no toys (for $75). Typically, there is also an "attendee bonus" item thrown in for free. In the past, it was a smaller vehicle (Armadillo in 06, VAMP in 07) but in 08 it was the Headhunter Driver figure. When you go through registration on the first night you also pick up your set and freebie, then the next stop is the club booth. Here you can buy the other convention items as well as some other Joe product (I remember wave five 25th stuff as well as prior year con items). Until registration ends for everyone, you are limited to how much of any one item you can purchase (limits are usually 1 or 2) but if they aren't sold out by Saturday morning you can buy all you want as long as they last. This year's additional con items and prices, as best as I can remember them: SWAT set - $65 Hammer w/Recoil - $75 Mech w/Hotwire - $60 loose figure sets - $135 additional box sets - $275 Any unsold con items are later made available through the club newsletter at the same price they were at the con. I hope this helps....

I hope its not in Rhode Island, cause if it is, then I'm not going. Thats way to far away for lots of people. I think AZ would be a good place for it, not just cause its where I live...

Whoa! Do you work for Delta? Does someone in your family work for Delta? NICE! I know someone who works for Delta, too.

Volleydan, I want to thank you for your post. That was really informative and really helpful and I'm sure that a lot of us who are trying to go to the Convention will appreciate you sharing this info with us so we'll know how to budget our money a little better. You were a big help to me. Thanks.

I wonder if they'll accept Arms, Legs, or the promise of First born children?

Well, I spent almost $2,500 at this year's convention in total.
I made back about $900 from selling stuff from my room, though. They do a billboard in the lobby where attendees can post lists of items that they brought for sale or trade. Here is a list of how the money I spent broke out: Registration was $550 (I paid for my wife to go, which I don't recommend unless she's cool with standing in line waiting for toys and talking nothing but toys for four straight days). The hotel, which we split with another couple, was $510 - my half was $255. Gas and meals were another $200 (Dallas is a four hour drive so we didn't have to fly). And then I spend about $1,500 on the sales floor....bought a whole mess of extra con items, a Gold PDD, a GH Steel Brigade, about 20 filecards, several vehicles, a couple of foreign figures, and Lord only knows what else. If you can control your spending on the floor, leave the wife at home, and arrange to split the hotel room with three other guys, you could probably do the whole thing for $1,500 or so......

One of the reasons I'm hoping it's in RI, so I can drive down.
How many days is it?
