yeah, I know we've been singing the praises about the con,. but lets get those gripes out, so we can appreciate the good times. this in no way should discourage you from going next year, this is just some of the crappy things we encountered while there:
1) Crackheads, Crackheads, Crackheads! now I know there are crackheads in every major city, but do they FOLLOW YOU AROUND???!!! Me and my friend got accosted THE MOMENT WE GOT OFF THE MARTA TRAIN! and most of them I encountered wanted to tell you their life story, or some anecdote on being a crackhead! look, just ask me for some mony so I can say no, and get on to McDonalds! 2) the Marta Train Although it was probably the quitest and cleanest public transportation ride I've been on, How deep undergrond was it? I felt like we were comming up from the Morlock Tunnels! 3) Cold enough for you? the Hotel Rooms were FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!! AND KEEP IN MIND I LIVE IN BOSTON! and while we're one the hotel rooms, double occupancy room, and ONE BAR OF SOAP!!!??? I guess they figure "theyre fanboys, they wont shower anyway..." and the ammenities? free lotion, that , after lotioning one leg, its empty (granted, you caucasians dont have to worry about being ashey as much as I do). 4) Old, but not forgotten I applaud the mastercollecors for using retirees for their staff, but the one old lady I asked for an extra program was a bit ornery. you would think she printed them out by hand with a hand crank or something! 5) Typhoid mary Who the hell was infecting everyone at the Con? most of the people I talked to after the con, got sick when they got home! ( I guess it was just the Joebattlelines rooms, I suspect a plot from the joecustoms guys, no wonder we lost!) 6) "No cervesas, por favor" 6 dollar beers?! cmon man! If I had known the liquor was gonna be that expensive, i would have made a stop at the liquor store beofre hand. (note for next year....) 7) No breakfast yeah, you would figure with all of us there, they could set up some continental breakfast for attendees (or at least the ones who could wake up at 7 am, Geez people, go to bed!).Most of us had to troop 3 blocks to McDonalds or the Super Expensive Stabucks in the Lobby. 8) No Free Internet what was up with that so called "free internet" in the lobby? me and my bro went downstairs early so to not disturb the "normal" sleepers (weakling humans!), so I could post "stuff" and the internet was 10 bucks! and this was on top of the 13 bucks I already paid in the room for service(you would assume they would keep track of you IP address or give you a password so you can use the internet free anywhere, Four Seasons does that) 9) the courtesy room. we realy need to work on getting a variety of cartoons to air. Last year it was the eternal sigma six episode, this year the eternal Valor vs venom cartoon! I personally brought G.I.Joe the movie, the Mass Device and Revenge of Cobra DVDS,... and couldnt play them. and the frequency? One moment there was tons of popcorn and Fig neutons, then next, not even a trash can! at least last year we got cake and doghnuts, this year,..Nutri Grain Bars? and the pink lemonade drink violates Man Rule #11: No man is allowed to drink a drink thit is colored Pink, unless A) it was given to you by a woman, and B) is at least 80 proof. 10) Punk Kids Although the young girls were beautiful and fun to talk to, the GUYS needed a serious Ass whipping! we almost started a fight with the kids on the 33rd floor for talking crap. (yeah kid, when you get as old as I am and make 60 grand a year, THEN you can talk crap! until then, STFU!) 11) did I already mention the crackheads? 12) unbending vendors ok some of the vendors were rediculous with the prices. I mean, it was SUNDAY, at 3:00, 30 minutes before the show closed, and they STILL were charging 3 bucks per loose crappy figure!!!!! I figured by then they wuld drop to 1 dollar. nope, still full price

Wow, I guess we wont have to worry about seeing you at next years con........
I was a staff member this year, and maybe if you knew that the "ornery staff member"(s) were up til 3+ in the morning arranging jump jets with the Starduster/grandslam packs, and 12 hour work days for all of us starting on Wed. til Sunday, maybe you would keep quiet about such silly things. ALL of the members of the club staff work VERY hard to make sure you all have a good time at the show, and for the most part, I think we did just that for MOST everyone. I consider all of the staff good friends, and they are all wonderful, hard working people. |

With all due respect, Arashikage, to tell someone that they should "keep quite about such silly things" is a smack in the face.
I'm sure it's appreciated that you worked so hard, but that being said, if it weren't for people like KOP that PAID to go to the Con, you wouldn't be working, correct? Also, there's this funny thing called "customer service". Having a bad day? Right on. Kick your puppy when you get home...don't take it out on the people that traveled from distant states. I believe the comment was directed towards one older lady and not the staff as a whole. So, to wrap things up...before YOU make comments about "such silly things", please keep in mind that this is a forum where people are allowed to share their thoughts, the same way you are allowed to share yours. Thanks |

For the record, I AM GOING to next year's con...
and before you go griping about how we are complainning about the con, I guess you didnt read my OTHER thread bout things I LOVED bout the con (which, coincedently, is larger the gripes) http://www.hisstank.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1566 also, you'll notice that the majority of things that went wrong are completely outside the controll of the staff.... ...exept you need to be able to give out extra programs! THAT one point had to do with ONE staff member's failure to help out a registered atendee. I wouldnt have had tht problem with ANY of the other staff, (as another staff member was happy to give me an extra program so I could get it signed by the guests) and yes, Scarlett, next year YOU BETTER BE GOING!!!!! Outback, Come on Down, the more the merrier! My Wingman who went with me the last two years is from Norwood.

HAH! Great stories KOP! Good to see the staff hasn't lost their old insular attitude. It's part of the experience, you might say. ;)
