...what are you most stoked about and the most disappointed in?
Awesome: #1. Eels, Airborne, Mutt and Junkyard and Lift Ticket: holy crap, they knocked all of these out of the park. and Matt Trakker came out surprisingly well, minus the WTF? helicopter pack. #2. Resolute designs: Aside from Destro i was really impressed with what they showed off. #3. Vehicles: Sky Hawk, Fang/Claw, Rattler, Conquest and Firebat all look fantastic. The redone Moccasin looks amazing, but is just WAY to small for the 25th figures judging by the SDCC pics... The updates to the Skyhawk are especially nice. #4. the Extreme Environment packs. Great value, great redecos, even nice 'frakenjoes". i can't give Hasbro enough props for these sets. #5. Fixed Tiger Force Duke. hopefully this means the end of those accursed Duke Arms fouling up figures. also, bonus points for finally getting all the correct gear in with Duke. #6. the final DVD pack. lots of fun new accessories. and while i don't care about it, i know a LOT of folks have been wanting that Cobra Commander. and a bonus CLAW? even for someone like me that hates the cartoon there is a lot to love here. Not Awesome: #1. The drivers that come with the FANG/CLAW 2 pack: would anyone have complained if they regular Viper was included and the Air Trooper still had a blue helmet? That Viper is just an atrocious mish-mash of colors. #2. "Classic" Zartan. yikes. should have left the belly shirt in the 80s where it belonged (seriously, he looks like he's trying out for KISS) the new masks are sweet though. but the swamp ski was lame in the 80s and is lame now. (i did like how it came apart as a kid, but that feature is 86'd here) #3. the upcoming $20 figures: aka Dusty, Quick Kick and Alpine. Seriously, 1 new character per $20 dvd pack? (not to mention that $50 Short Fuse). #4. neon rears it's ugly head: the lime n' orange accents on Para-Viper and Bright Green heli-pack with Matt Trakker: you're on notice Hasbro, knock that off RIGHT. NOW. #5. the AWE with Leatherneck. didn't need a tan AWE filling a slot that could have been another vehicle and that Leatherneck is just embarrassing all around. One of the worst examples of FrankenJoeing i've seen in the line. #6. Quick Kicks lack of ankle articulation. an utterly perfect sculpt hamstrung by the fact that wouldn't you want to put a martial artist into cool poses that ankle articulation allows. :( #7. Screaming Duke. WTF? #8. a lot of the new card art is just baaaaaaaaaaad. The one question i want answered: when released will Dusty be AWESOME like this: (from Joe Con) or not awesome like this: (from Joe Blows thread)

both Dustys look cool. If we are only ever going to get one, I'd go for the classic looking version. Hopefully though, they'll release the other version somehow somewhere.

Both Dusty's look the same to me, if you don't count the lighting that the pictures were took under. The one laid out with his accessories is washed out from the flash, and it looks like his helmet is missing the shroud.. other than that, they're the same.

The one question i want answered: when released will Dusty be AWESOME like this: (from Joe Con) or not awesome like this: (from Joe Blows thread) Why wouldn't they make the viper and the air trooper the same colour as the originals. People would be way more happy with that. I also, agree and am annoyed at the 20$ figures. Yes the new CC is nice. But as I have said in a previous thread, of the 200 figures hasbro has released 25th style, 40 of them are SE, SS, CC, Duke and Destro. That is 20% of what you buy will be one of 5 figures. Considering there are at least 80 good ones, its a little disappointing... |

"the same" aside from the camo pattern, cloth headgear and darker accessories (and misassembled waist :p) it's also hard to tell the body tone because of the flash, but JoeCon Dusty looks tan and Joe Blow Dusty looks grey...

agree with most of what you say, especially screaming Duke. i'm not sure i see a huge difference between the 2 Dusty's other than the lack of cloth thingie on one, slightly different boot color, and bare hand vs. gloves.

i do like the Red Stripes on the Air Trooper ~ that's very "pilot-ish" but that red helmet just ruins it for me...This just could have been such an awesome troop builder pack, but with the mish-mashed pilots, ugh. i'll just get one and sell off the figures for a couple bucks to a customizer...

I must be wierd, as I love that CLAW pilot. The red sleeve stripe and helmet really set him apart as a member of an 'elite' squadron.
I am far less enamoured of the FANG pilot though. He'll be a 'Latrine Viper' back at base while a regular Cobra Trooper takes to the skies in the Gyrocopter.
