G.I. Joe #10 shows the fate of 3 Joes injured in the previous issue. As Destro continues to be blackmailed into serving Cobra, he meets a rival who he must partner up with. The Fobbits are on the scene of Castle Destro trying to figure out, just what happened. It's chaos in Springfield, and Mainframe stumbles upon an unexpected surprise which shows that Cobra is definitely ahead of the curve.....
The mainline G.I. Joe title has been great for introducing all new vehicles. This issue is no exception as we see a new Cobra helicopter. Could it be a new version of the FANG? It definitely strikes me as a Cobra vehicle, but at the same time has a futuristic look. SL Gallant along with Andrew Crossley are back on art chores. The extensive airbrushed glow effects are still present but I've gotten used to them, so they don't come off as distracting as before. The panels flow smoothly and the artwork is easy to follow, which is good because there is a lot of action in this issue. This issue was exciting. Destro meets a familiar face(to us), and the upcoming rivalry between the 2 will increase tension within Cobra. I like how the new characters are always introduced with a purpose, never just for the sake of throwing a bone to older fans. Snake Eyes has a close quarters battle with Cobra Vipers, and it's fairly realistic. The way it ends is awesome and I am glad that IDW did not make Snake Eyes some demigod super ninja commando. For proof check out this issue. Snake Eyes is a great fighter but not invincible. What Mainframe stumbles upon has some sci-fi elements but it's not too far off considering Cobra's advancements in technology. It's actually pretty neat, and smart on Cobra's part. Compared to previous issues, I find Snake Eyes and Mainframe's quest for answers to be much more exciting than the initial focus on Beachhead and Duke. It's an unlikely duo, but the ninja commando and techie make for a great team. I hope we see more of them in the future. This issue is action packed and an exciting read. Snake Eyes fans won't be disappointed. Also, the very last page sees the return of a menacing Cobra vehicle, one we have not seen in quite a long time. Definitely worth picking up. |

Thanks, I'll definitely pick this one up. At first, I didn't like Gallant's art, but it is starting to grow on me.

nice review, I also liked the bone we older fans get thrown in the last panel in the form of one of COBRA's cooler old style choppers.

I really liked this issue, and like the direction it's going. I can appreciate the reboot much more lately.

The fight with the Cobra trooper was pretty cool. I hope all Cobras are as tough as him.
Mindbender seems interesting for once! Can't wait to see more top-level Cobra agents. This series is definitely picking up, I just wish they'd lock in an A-list art talent. SL Gallant does a great job, but I'd like to see something a little more cutting edge. Origins is suffering from the same thing - inconsistent fill-in artists. If IDW can raise the bar on that part, I wouldn't have anything to complain about. |
