I only read about this upcoming storyline yesterday, but have suspected that a Snake-eyes storyline would be coming up ever since Sean Collins showed up a few issues back. I figured he would not become Kamakura this time around, but I did notice his background sounded alot like Snake-eyes's v1 file card. Before Storm Shadow was introduced and Snake-eyes was reconned to be a Ninja, he was a Commando who held a black belt (or equivalent rank) in several forms of marital arts. This is also the background given to Throwdown (Sean Collins, and God I hate that code name).
All that said, I have a feeling at the end of this storyline with Snake-eyes's death, Sean will don a new uniform and code name in Snake-eyes's honor, but be what Snake-eyes was originally intended to be based on his original file card.

Many fans seem to feel negative concerning recent storylines in hama's arah comic. I'll admit I'm not a fan of revanche and how much spotlight these ninja cyborgs are taking from cobra. After all cobra's past victories and accomplishments they should be more of a threat than ever. But despite this- I still love arah. I hope sean will become kamakura. I didn't until he was revealed to be a ninja. I strongly feel the comic should feature some of the post-2000 toys as this current generation of fans grew up on toys featured in ddp's disavowed comic and cartoons like sigma-six. I don't want a revamp or retcon- just some of the good and bad guys' getting new vipers and recruits. But pop culture seems to repeat every twenty years. Those of us that grew up during hasbro's multi-media attack became the creators twenty years later in the 2000's. But until hasbro delivers toys/a cartoon/video game/commercials/and a movie that not only doesn't suck but resembles the quality of the current marvel movies I don't see the new generation being nostalgic concerning Joe. I care most about larry's arah comic but realize comics don't have the influence they once had.

Are the DDP's disavowed because Hama wanted a fresh start or is there some friction between the 2 entities? |

What was the deal with DDP disavowed comic line? I collected a bunch of them in the early 2000's and thought they were entertaining enough. I know Hama wasn't involved with them and now Hama is doing it again.

I enjoyed a lot of ddp's product but I decided my canon will be larry's arah but I do wish he would use post-2000 designs like ddp did.

Hey Everyone!
So this past weekend, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit Emerald City Comics. I was disappointed in myself for not planning my visit better, so I was literally half asleep for my entire visit (embarrassing to say the least). First and foremost, if any of you have the chance to visit EC Comics...GO! GO NOW! GO AGAIN TOMORROW! Guys, this place is AWESOME! It's big & spacious and there's eye candy from floor to ceiling. Want G.I.Joe? Want Voltron? Want friggin' anything remotely "geek"? They had it. They had 4 of it. They had the exclusive of that thing you want that you didn't even know existed. The staff? Top shelf. Beyond knowledgeable and beyond friendly. So friendly, in fact, that I signed up for an ECComics card...and for any of you that know me well enough, I don't sign up for ANYTHING. That's how nice these folks were. I have some pics to share, but we'll get in to that later (after I've taken them off of my phone and cleaned them up a bit). Now, let's get on to the meet and potatoes - The Emerald City Comics Exclusive G.I.Joe #212 Variant issue! So, while I was there, I got to meet Mr. Adam Riches. Don't know who Adam is? Psssh, look at the cover...he's the artist behind the awesomeness that is the cover for this book. So, remember me saying I was half asleep? Yeah, well how friggin' rude am I...I go to talk to Adam and IMMEDIATELY "zombie out" (Sorry, Adam!), For the bit of time I did get to share with Adam, it's beyond apparent that he loves this brand and the cover was a labor of love. Speaking of the book...I also had the opportunity to speak to Mr. Darryl Blaker, the Director of Marketing & Talent Development for Emerald City. What a class act this gentleman is. He was so welcoming, he answered my intrusive questions with a smile and even let me run around the place with my camera like a 5 year old on a pixie stick high. Darryl was kind enough to share some interesting info with me...namely that this issue has sold 200+ copies! THAT'S AWESOME! It's so good to know we're all out there reading and keeping our imaginations going. Blah blah blah, Erick talks way too much, so the short & sweet: 1. Emerald City Comics is friggin' AWESOME. 2. Adam Riches & Darryl Blaker - Beyond awesome and a pleasure to meet. 3. G.I.Joe #212 Exclusive Cover - GO GET IT NOW! Get your copy at EmeraldCityComics.com. Tell'em HissTank sent you and you'll get...well, nothing, but it's the thought that counts. Pics coming sooner or later! |

Cool! Wasn't there a Joe version done, too, or was that many moons ago? If so, was/is it available as a poster, as well?

If there was a Joe version it wasnt by Mr.Riches. Quick search reveals a similar style by Chris Lie for the cover of GI Joe: Americas Elite #25 by DDP.
