Yeah, let's not go around throwing around our amateur psychological assessments on this site. We're all collectors here, after all.

There's the saying "Whoever has the most toys wins" and I think we've all seen the winner. I wonder how much the total collection is worth? He could probably retire early from whatever job it is he does.

Ah.. Aire's wonderful collection. And here is why. She is making what will probably be the most comprehensive G.I.Joe collection books ever. So the next time one of us needs to know what came with what figure or how many variants there are of a figure, we have one source to look at instead of several and not ever getting a full answer. So no OCD, crazy, extreme army building. she bought what she could find until another figure or such popped up in better shape and replaced the old one with it, thus the tubs with several of the same figure. She wants to make sure that the figures pictured are those in the best quality as to not miss and detail.
Like how many people knew there was a Variant Cobra Mortal? Anyone? anyone? Yeah.. not many. There are only 6 known to exist and of those 6.. 3 are in decent shape. she has one of those 3.. as well as several sets of the original Argentine 7.. and other rare figures. So where it is a huge and immaculate collection, it is also her work for the book. Lucky for us Texas folk, she is right here to see the collection in person. ; ) She is a great and Kind woman.. Oh and that Jabba Skiff.. Her son made it.. obviously by the pics. It was entered into a "Who's the biggest Star Wars Fan" contest.. and of course won. I think the OCD is a valid point as I am of the opinion that a lot of collectors are, including myself. Some other poster's comment about real OCD people living in mess and filfth is a bit one sided IMO. I am no psychologist, but I thought neat freaks are considered OCD as well. And, for the record, there are pics of massive army built figures in the Terror Drome diorama. So, it's not only a "one of each" collection. I for one am glad to see someone taking the collection to an extreme like this. It's nice to know that someone out there appreciates collecting that much and has so much passion for it. Everyone has different priorities. Maybe this collection, while extensive, is not something that she has to really sacrifice to have. Maybe it doesn't really affect her ability to maintain a household. And, even if it does, it's really none of our business. Whenever her book comes out I am sure it will be a great source for Joe collectors, and it will be great to see the rare and obscure stuff that I probably have never seen before. So, OCD? I think so, but I like it! |

The collection got started by her buying stuff for her son i'm sure. Then eventually the book.. or her son had what books are out there and she realized how badly they needed an update. Either way.. no OCD as far as the collection goes.. If you saw it in person.. everything is organized, due to the shear volume. There is a lot more than what is pictured... a whole lot more. I have OCD.. I have to have everything organized in a certain way. It upsets me more than it should when something is moved or not put back in it's place, all my M&M's have to match in number, so before I can eat one color, I must eat each other color till the numbers match. See.. OCD. LOL
