I suppose. I've never understood the extreme troop building either, to be honest. I just want a representation of the character to put on a shelf and make me smile. Having shelves full of MIB toys seems absurd to me....let alone what's going on here. Sure...this person could sell the collection: but they don't, thus the multiples everywhere. I get wanting to have a collection of something you love.....but I also get wanting to go on vacation, hang out with my buddies on the weekend, dressing well, having a decent car....I can see no logical reason for sitting on such a mass of product. I would get physically ill every time I looked at it, seeing only what the money tied up in it could be.

My wife would kill me if I ever thought of going that far with my collection.

Stupid question. Does Hasbro have or has ever thought of making a GI Joe museum? I'd gladly pay admission to visit it.

Ah.. Aire's wonderful collection. And here is why. She is making what will probably be the most comprehensive G.I.Joe collection books ever. So the next time one of us needs to know what came with what figure or how many variants there are of a figure, we have one source to look at instead of several and not ever getting a full answer. So no OCD, crazy, extreme army building. she bought what she could find until another figure or such popped up in better shape and replaced the old one with it, thus the tubs with several of the same figure. She wants to make sure that the figures pictured are those in the best quality as to not miss and detail.
Like how many people knew there was a Variant Cobra Mortal? Anyone? anyone? Yeah.. not many. There are only 6 known to exist and of those 6.. 3 are in decent shape. she has one of those 3.. as well as several sets of the original Argentine 7.. and other rare figures. So where it is a huge and immaculate collection, it is also her work for the book. Lucky for us Texas folk, she is right here to see the collection in person. ; ) She is a great and Kind woman.. Oh and that Jabba Skiff.. Her son made it.. obviously by the pics. It was entered into a "Who's the biggest Star Wars Fan" contest.. and of course won.

Hasbro should make a toy museum for all their brands. You'd have the G.I. Joe floor, the Transformers floor, the Star Wars floor, the uhm... My Little Pony room...

Does hasbro go to her house to see what they don't have?
I'm glad someone knew about this collection. I'm also glad that she's working on a book. I need to show this to my wife too. I agree with everything you guys have said so far. I do have one question. Is this collection insured? They really, really need to open a museum. If not I vote for trying to convince Hasbro to have a convention in her town. Then sell admission tickets to her house. |
