OK, sorry to bring this up, but I have to vent this situation.
There is nothing wrong with people wanting ebay prices/value for their stuff they want to trade, but I've encountered 2 problems in the last week: 1.- Sellers saying they want to "help" other collectors by offering their stuff asking for an offer. Once the offer is submitted, they answer back saying "my item sells for this much on ebay..., that's not the price it's going for.. etc." 2.- They ask for a trade and once you pm them, what they REALLY want is $$ and of course, the ebay going price. Why ask for offers/trades when they really know what they want? Just indicate the amount in the first post. If people want ebay prices, why not sell their stuff on ebay in the first place or (again) indicate the desired asking price. Basically, the only solution is to be specific on the "for sale/for trade" posts so that they don't waste other people's time.

And that's exactly why I put my stuff on eBay(when I want cash/going rate), I only start a trade thread if it is trade specific.
Otherwise you're right, it is a bit of a waste of time.

for sure and ever notice that they always want the highest 'sold' for rate?
i haven't dealt with anyone here *yet*... but they will ask for the highest rate that it has been sold for that 'week/day' |

I myself haven't traded yet (though I do have an upcoming one here when the Docs start shipping) but my best advice is to only deal with the folks who are longtime members and in good standing on here.
One of the things I really like about hisstank is that thread about the good and bad sellers/traders o nhere (as well as ebay). Trading/buying is such a hard thign to do because we all expect the other to be honest and fair and to not burn us as a customer, though it isn't always the case sometiems. Hisstank provides us with the info we need to keep away from the bad sellers/traders and don't get to down about it because trust me, there are enough people on here who do genuinly want to help other fellow collectors. |

heres the problem with people selling something for ebay rates.
say theres a rich guy who will spend 500 on a figure just because he can afford it. and he bids 500 on that figure, meanwhile all the other auctions go for 100 on the same figure, people automatically think the figure is now worth 500 dollars because 500 is a dime to a rich guy. people start panicking because the saw 1 auction end at 500 then think for 400 hundred they are getting a deal. in turn it falsely drives the price up. |
