My family runs a small buisness, and for years I thought about ordering cases of joes ( back then it was star wars ) through their storefront and was wandering how this could work out to my advantage?
Does anyone buy cases directly from Hasbro for resell in a mom/pop type place? and if so, how do you go about it, or do they only deal with large chains and independent toy stores? Id assume you would have a set amount you would have to buy, or could you order 1 or 2 cases? any info?

I think it likely there is a serious $ threshold you have to cross to be dealing direct with Hasbro like that. I believe I've seen folks quote the level at $10,000 before Hasbro starts dealing with you wholesale, but I honestly have no idea. I doubt it is worth it just to save cash for yourself or get figs more easily, unless you really can turn a profit on a large scale.

I used to deal with hasbro back in the mid 1990's (95-99)
You can go with as little as 1500 Dollars to start but there is not really any "Target Date" of when your able to get your items. Basically everything comes by container from the orient and it is 'allocated out' to the individuals vendors/distributors. Depending on the size of your order (Obviously the larger buyers get first cracK) If your looking for just a few cases I would try sticking to BBTS or entertainment earth Unless you can get a large grouping of your friends together and one of you has a tax ID (They are easy to get). If you have say 10 friends who want 2 cases of each wave since most of the time they are 1 figure per case then that would be 20 cases (of that particular wave) Usually hasbro has them for a whole sale cost per item of around 3.99 or less depending on if you have your own shipper and want to order them via LOC (Letter of Credit) you would make 16$ per case as a retailer. so out of a case shipment of 20 Pieces u make a cool 320 bux. do that 3 or 4 times a month if you have the ability and you could turn a profit but one thing you have to remember is that out of 900+ cases in a container maybe 3% get damaged. so thats about 27 peices hopefully your not the guy who gets the lucky 27 because theres gonna be alot of your friends crying in thier beer |

I don't know much about it, but I remember seeing that Entertainment Earth has some type of wholesale/distribution program.
http://www.entertainmentearth.com/eedistribution.asp Like others have said, you'll probably need a Tax Id though. Hope this helps. |

Our comic shop uses previews (the catalog) to order, it has products ranging from Comics to action figures to t shirts sometimes G.I.Joe is listed, and you can order cases ahead of time. We just got in wave 1 for 2008 (snow job, blade destro etc.) but the above guys listed some great ways to go through Hasbro, and I for one will try that route as soon as my store has established itself here on the coast.

The initial order had to be a minimum of $5K back in 2000, but I think that number is $10K now. Best thing to do is contact them and find out.
