Over the course of the last several months, I've posted a list of items for trade and sale; both on YoJoe and Hisstank. I've been contacted on at least 10 occasions regarding a sale or trade. In each instance I've traded terms and information regarding shipping with each one of these people. In each case, we've agreed to ship our items simulatneously or once I'd recieved payment and the other party has said it would be X amount of days before he would be shipping the item. In the case of the former, I've asked to be sent a private message on the day the item would be mailed so that I could drop my item off at the post office as well.
The really disturbing part is that not one of these deals has panned out. Now, I was contacted in a majority of instances, and don't feel I should have to harrass the other party for information regarding a trade or sale they initiated. However, since about the third time this has happened, I've asked to be informed if anything should change. I consider this gesture to be a social pleasantry, since once an agreement has been entered, it should be honoured by both parties. However, I haven't been givien the courtesy of being told they found a better deal or decided not to go ahead with the trade. They simply stop answering PMs or make no effort to contact me. I've been reading YoJoe & Hisstank for a number of years, despite not joining the forums until the 25th figures were released. Even though I haven't been posting very long, I've always gotten the impression that this is a community that values it's integrity. But, given the fact that I've never been involved in selling or trading online, I was wondering what are the standards regarding situations such as these? Does this make those members bad traders/buyers? Am I supposed to post our PM's and warn others from dealing with them? What I really want to know is whether or not this is a common thing on these forums? How many of you have had experiences like this? I realize I don't have any feedback regarding trading or selling, but how am I supposed to when none of the people who've entered into deals with me have followed through on their end of the arrangment? Is it really that hard to get involved in this aspect of the G.I Joe community? |

You bring up a good point. It's just good manners to say if you don't want to close a deal so the other person MIGHT be able to deal with someone else who MIGHT want the items. Instead they're on perpetual hold for nadda. I'm not going to say I've NEVER gotten so busy I forgot someone i was dealing with, but I also ceck my pm's farly often and it will remind me to finish it one way or the other.

I've had this a number of times as well. It is quite annoying. I've found that if I dont hear from someone regarding a deal within 1 week, I consider it null and void and move on. It sucks, but I'm not going to waste my time waiting for a reply when I could be selling or buying whatever it is elsewhere.

i've had similar experiences with communications however, a majority have been excellent! i too have been guilty of failing to respond in a timely manner in a couple ocassions (at most a couple days) so i can't complain too much but it's generally a common courtesy that only takes a couple seconds to send an email regarding the status of things, something everyone should do. doesn't always happen though.
i've had far more pleasant experiences than bad ones dealing with online transactions and i've been doing this for 6 years give or take a year. ALL transactions dealing with members here have worked out well for me.

I agree as you can see I ahve not posted long and I don't get the time of day. Everyone wants to see "feedback" from somewhere. It sucks cause I have money and figures and I am honest and make sure things get done right and FAST. Yet people give me stupid lines like okaying a trade and then waiting a half hour to say "Oh my god, I thought I had that storm shadow but I looked at my collection and I didnt. Sorry dude I have over two hundred guys and I can tell you at the drop of a dime what I have and do not have.

There are times when I do trades or sales where I can't get to the post office in a timely manner but I will always communicate that to the other party so they know what to expect. Most people will tell me straight up though if they change their mind on a deal and I'm fine with that; it's just when they don't tell me that it sucks.

To those above, I'm not saying things can't come up. Everyone has things to do in life. But two weeks later, after no word on the mutually agreed upon trade, they stop answering PMs? I'm not even the type to dwell on a trade or sale that didn't work out. But I do consider it pretty shitty to agree on a trade, exchange information, consider it a done deal, and then never hear from them again. At least have the descency to tell me you don't want to go through with it. Don't just leave someone standing there with their Joe in their hand.

It's really unfortunate, and definitely frustrating.
I couldn't agree more, if X doesn't want to complete deal with Y, he/she should say so immediately. Thanks for keeping this thread civil, everyone |

I've had some really good trades lately but I've also had some that fell to the wayside without a word? If the deal doesn't go down, such is life, you gotta move on. It sucks if there is no communication in the matter but this is just the way some people are? It doesn't make it right and I definitely am not defending this practice. I have found the tank so far to be a very honorable and decent place to trade.
