Hey guys,
I was wondering if there's any particular demand from collectors for 12'' Joes from the early 90's Hall of Fame line onwards up until around the late 90s. I've got about 9 or 10 figures from this era, a mostly-complete costume set, and probably a couple of mostly-complete HoF figures (and an off-brand figure) buried at my parents' house. But I've stopped collecting 12'' figures, and have no particular interest in picking back up (apart from maybe this, but that's a whole 'nother ball of wax). So the thought of selling them off crossed my mind, and I was wondering if anyone still cared about 12'' figures from that era. Don't get me wrong--I'm not committed to the idea of selling them off, nor am I trying to use this as a secondary B/S/T thread to advertise them. I'm just looking for general opinion on the topic, since I've not been keeping up with 12'' figures since around 2000 or so and am very out-of-the-loop on whether there's even demand or interest in the 90s ones. Any opinions, facts, links to sales of comparable product, etc. would be most appreciated.

I personally like the Hall of fame figures but for some reason or another they don't tend to sell all that well. Someone at a local flea market to here has about 20 or so MIB he wants 15 each and he has been sitting on them for a while now. I had a loose Marine Dress Gung ho that I sold loose on ebay a couple years back that I think I got less than ten dollars for.

Wow, really? Well, I guess they lack the nostalgia of the 3 3/4'' ARAH figures, or the raw quality of the Sideshow stuff, so maybe they just don't have much of a niche. In that case, maybe I'll go the other direction, and see if I can't track down a couple of the ones that I wanted but wasn't able to get (like Destro or Major Bludd).

I always thought they were cool. I was thinking of them recently and saw that they're not going for much on ebay.

Unfortunately the Hall of Fame bodies were too thick and rubbery. Collectors don't want them. They did come up with a better version of the basic figure for the British 1990's Action Man line, with jointed elbows and knees and no rubber. I've often thought about scoring a bunch of those bodies and swapping the Hall of Fame heads and uniforms out, but I'll probably never get around to it.

Might be the same thing, but the bodies used by the 12" Starting Line-Up and Episode I Obi-Wan Kenobi seem like they would be good replacements for the stock Hall of Fame bodies. Only issue would be with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow as they have tampos on their forearms.

I like the few I have (especially Major Bludd) but I have no desire to own any more. I don't even know what to do with them.
Also some came with a really awesome Cobra handbook with the faction symbols and names. |

I like the HOF line very much, its the line that got me started collecting 1/6, the articulation was a down side but if you can accept them for what they are they are very nice collectibles that were built to last. I display some right along side high end sixth scale figures.

It’s not just collectors, they were no good for kids either, their elbows and knees could barely bend. I was 8 when these started coming out, they were the first 1/6 scale toys I had, and remember liking the uniforms but hating the figures themselves. When the Classic Collection figures came out a few years later, I was blown away by the articulation and those figures really sparked my interest in 1/6 scale toys. And they are quite durable and can stand up to rough play. IMO the Classic Collection figures are the true spiritual successors to the original Joes from the 60’s. And they can be had for pretty cheap. My advice, take the 1/6 RAH heads and uniforms, and put them on Classic Collection bodies (they are interchangeable). You won’t have high end collectibles, but you’ll have some damn cool toys
