I normally don't collect pre-25th Joe/Cobra figures, but occasionally something jumps out at me...the last time that happened was the VvV Cobra Commander with the interchangeable hood and helmet.

Anyway, this time it was Heavy Water. Even though it's in the old-school style, can you take a look at this guy and not say he's fucking awesome? For a Spy Troops figure, he's amazingly detailed, what with all the hoses and tubes and everything. I love the bizarre, high-tech look many of the various Cobra specialty troopers have, and this dude just takes the cake.

Still, compared to 25th/POC/30th figures, he still comes across as a tad lacking, especially if I was going to grant him access to my display shelf alongside all my modern-era figures.

Does giving a figure a cooler-looking gun (from the RoC Viper Commando...the ones Heavy Water came with looked like super-soakers) and slapping a pair of Shock Trooper goggles on his head count as a custom? I don't know? But that's what I did, and I think he looks pretty damn cool. What do you think?

(Sorry for being away so long- working 3 and four jobs!)
Anyway, I shared these pics with Templar Baggins a little over an hour ago, so now I can post them here!

Alpine was built from a RoC Duke head, a generic construction worker's helmet, red fang ninja goggles, a cobra figure's torso and arms, city strike Snake Eyes legs and backpack, a CORPS figure's grappling gun, Arctic Destro's pick, Storm Shadow's rope bundle, the HISS V driver's "leg gear", a big ol' knife and some string from a dogfood bag wound around Snake Eyes' pack for some serious climbing!

It was a Corporate-Military styled cobra commander, from the turtleneck and coat but still wearing some officer's boots, It had an air of authority and at the same time was pretty casual. I knew I wanted one for my collection.

So I went ahead and tried my hand at making one for myself. the hardest part was the sculpting of the helmet with those tiny fangs added by the "jawline" but the rest of him was fairly easy.

I had all the parts I needed and went straight to work with the guy. If there was one thing I would change it would be the torso. I'd probably find something that was less wrinkled. but I guess that's a revision for another day.

I still need to do my version of Krake Commander.
