I read lots of comics, and I can't remember a book that I loathed turning around quite so much as this title. I just wasn't into what Dixon was doing, but the last 4-5 issues have been awesome. I think I liked last issue a bit more, but Destro shines this issue. I was getting a bit tired of him getting pushed around, but this issue he does the pushing. Great little cameo by CC. I love his slap at Clan Destro's Latin a minor subtle suggestion that this CC is not the buffon from the cartoon.
Bludd gets beat down a little to easily, but I look forward to him attempting revenge against Destro at some point in the future. Only complaint about the IDW verse at this point: Storm Shadow and Firefly. Let's see them IDW. |

Could it be they are waiting for issue 21 to introduce Storm Shadow? That'd be a neat little homage eh?

I only want SS and Firefly if the story calls for it. I don't want them making appearances because the fanbase just wants to see them. If that makes sense.

I agree. I think Brooks will be the perfect person to introduce Firefly. We knew so little about him waaayyy back before Hama ruined him. It'll be nice to get a peek into how he ticks right fromt he get go this time around. I think Brooks is a deep enough, and evolved enough writer to give us that peek, but not waste it, or hit us over the head with it. I think IDW Firefly is going be a very cool cat.

i can't think of a better writer than max brooks to introduce firefly. i look forward to tommy and hope larry introduces him, not dixon. i'm one of those few people that like the ninja action of gi joe (Excluding the ninja force issues of the '90's). i still want to see the red ninjas and kamakura. but firefly better stay out of the mess. i pray to god that he is not brought back a ninja. but i have faith in brooks.

I'm not sure if Larry ruined Firefly, or if that one is laid at the feet of Hasbro. Hasbro came out with those insane new figures for Zartan and Firefly about the time that those issues came out. I do hope Brooks sticks to the saboteur, and drops the ninja story.

I'm really interested to see his take on Blowtorch. It's a character I never really got into, or remember much about.

I'd be mildly interested just from the perspective that "flamethrower troopers" are an anachronism nowadays. Heck, even when Blowtorch was first introduced flamethrowers had already ceased being used by the Department of Defense a few years prior (1978, to be precise). |
