I would agree with you when it comes to the modern Batman but I've always liked the Batman Beyond world with McGinnis as the Bat. I hear there's a new Beyond story coming out soon.

Yes, AzBats did fight the Punisher-I have that issue somewhwere. As to the rest, I believe those lists are correct, although I don't follow the comics any more. With regards to Robin, Dick was the first, he quit being Robin and became Nightwing. Jason was taken in by Bruce and beacme Robin II, he was killed by the Joker. Tim figured out who Batman and Robin really were, and told Bruce, "Batman needs a Robin." He trained for many months, and was given a new costume when he became Robin III. As for the Bat, Bruce was injured and had Azrael take over, but he was psycho. Bruce reclaimed the mantle, but had Dick fill in for a while so he could get up to speed. Terrry McGuiness, IIRC, was obsessed with Batman, and portrayed himself as such after his family died. But he wasn't "officially" Batman.

I'd say in official continuity not counting stuff where Superman tosses his outfit on to fool someone or other singular gimmicks like Batman claiming his dad was the first since he had a Bat themed party costume(so no counting pre-crisis shennanigs) there have been 3 Batmen: Bruce, Jean, and Dick. 5 Robins: Dick, Jason, Tim, Stephanie, and Damien. This is far as I can remember and I'm counting only those I know were recognized by other characters in their roles, so I'm not including Battle for the Cowl, since a handful of characters all claimed to be Bruce's successor.

Seriously, if I answered those questions, I'd most likely blow your minds. Like the time I tried to explain Comet the Super-Horse, who's a were-person, as the horse transforms into a teenage boy who secretly pines over Supergirl.

Nah, he was official if you want to count the future timeline as official DC continuity as I believe it's one very possible future for Batman. Bruce begrudgingly gave his blessing to McGuiness to become the Batman but he became his mentor after a short while. It was even discovered later that Dr. Waller using DNA splicing managed to alter McGuiness' father's DNA so that Terry would be the genetic son of Bruce Wayne. Now that's family planning.

Thanks for clearing that up, Dropkick. I had him confused with another character who posed as Batman for 2 issues prior to Year One.

Those that were Batman at one time or another: 1. Bruce Wayne 2. Jean-Paul Valley 3. Dick Grayson 4. Terry McGinnis 5. Batman One Million (not sure they ever gave this guy a name) I'm not sure about all the Robins though: 1. Dick Grayson 2. Jason Todd 3. Tim Drake 4. Stephanie Brown 5. Damian Wayne 6. Carrie Kelly (Alternate Future Robin) Is that all? Yep.

If the OP wants elseworlds characters as well, this list could get lengthy. But for all intents and purposes of the "modern" comic age, all Batmen and Robin's have been listed.
But as written before me, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson are all that matter... I would like to add, though, that Tim Drake should be added to this statement because Dick Grayson is awesome as Nightwing. So... Bruce Wayne = Batman Dick Grayson = Nightwing Tim Drake = Robin These are the essential characters to the Bat-mythos. Alfred and Commissioner Gordon are as well, though they go without saying since they haven't been played by other characters.

there is only one Batman and Robin! and it starred Alicia Silverstone and Arnold and let's face it...even if you hate the movie Uma as Poison Ivy was fun. =]
a must see in HI DEF/Blu Ray. one of my fav Batman movies (Batma Returns holds the candle). the "Joker's Wild" comic starring Robin/Tim Drake was pretty good. I remember that as a kid and being engaged. |
