is there a difference in the IDW vs. Marvel run?
I have Marvel's TPB's.

Thanks. The two that I saw were IDW. What's weird is the place I go to get my copy of Origins had none of these TPBs. They had the Origins one, GI Joe Cobra one, Best of Duke, Best/Worst of CC, and stuff like that...none of these though.

Marvel Vol 4 ends at #41 IDW Vol 4 ends at #40 (Also a couple of pages are un-retouched scans, Marvel is fully retouched like all the books) So of course Vol 5 is different too. I have Marvel #5 and IDW #4 so I'm missing issue 41 :( I can either try to find Marvel #4 and buy it or buy IDW #5....either way, I'm buying a duplicate TPB |

Def worth it. I just finished Vol 1 and forgot how awesome it was back in the day. My Joe collection was so eratic that these TPBs are the shiiiiizzzzz!
On a side note...why for 20 bucks am I getting beautifully reproduced comic books in vibrant color and glossy pages...yet the Marvel Essentials...who have reproduced some of the GREATEST B-rated titles of all time...Tomb Of Dracula, Werewolf By Night...why the hell are they giving me black and white pages where the ink is comming off? Seriously, charge me a few bucks more and make it look like the Classic Joe books! |

I just downloaded the entire GIJoe run from 1982 to present for free. So my answer is......not worth it.

The true comic reading experience is having the book in hand, not the digital version. I'm just old school that way. Sometimes the feel of the pages is much better than the click of the button.
I always love having the actual book or issue to read rather than having to download stuff. Plus I'm a comic collector too.... |

The classic TPBs are a great way to enjoy the original stories without having to buy the originals online. Plus the color is sharper and they take up less space.
