Just released. Will be getting it on the way home and will post a review. It's UK exclusive material, aimed at the 7-12 year olds, so I wonder how interesting it'll be to us adults???? Will find out soon

This is news to me so thanks for the tip!
But, if it's like other modern UK comics then it'll be of little interest me. There will be tatty 'free gifts', garish graphic design and rubbish artwork I expect. I may buy them for 'collectors purposes' though. Oh for the days of BATTLE ACTION FORCE and artists like Vanyo and Cooper...

Haven't read the story, but some things of note:
The free gift is an ammo box made from plastic. Essentially a pencil case size, BUT perfect for keeping Joe weapons in. The art is quite good really. Not quite on a par with IDW and alightly more stylised, but still worthwhile. There's a great fact file with a picture of the Howler. There's a custom recipe to make a bunker. Now I have a lot of experience making model sets and it'd challenge me. Very useful for adult collectors, but the kids would struggle. Longest Day - you'd like that bit of it definately!!! Overall quite reminiscent of the Marvel AF comic, though whether the stories end up as good I don't know. However it's worth picking up for sure! |

Cool, i'll keep an eye out for this, thanks for the heads up. I'll probably get the first issue, to have a good look.

The story is quite good, though aimed towards a younger age group, but there's a good feel of the movie approach. The art is very British (in a good way) ie it's quite bold and colourful. Kids would love this, and for adult collectors it's fun in an accessible way.

Picked it up today and you're right, the strip is pretty good. Although it's frustrating that it can't (?) feature Cobra for fear of contradicting the film continuity.
The graphics are still a bit tacky, but as it's for kids what can you expect (although, BATTLE ACTION FORCE was 'for kids' too back in it's day!) I'll support it and buy the comic as long as it lasts, but with the attention spans of kids today, we'll have to see just how long that is!
