Aloha, fellow Joe fans.
I am trying to figure out which Devil's Due Publishing comic book contains the Zartan origin story. I own it & have read it but, for the life of me, can't figure out just from the cover which one it is. This origin story revolves around a photo Zartan keeps throughout the years despite all his changes of identity. Easily one of the BEST stories ever written for the pages of any G.I.Joe/Cobra/Dreadnok/MARS etc.-related comic book. I was in the mood to read it again but can't figure out which one it is. Can anyone help in these regards? Best wishes, Kamakura Supporting the Joe team since 1983 |

I remember a Dreadnoks mini that had Zartan's origin, but I don't remember Zartan keeping a photo in, so it may not be the one you are thinking of.

The only 2 DDP series that cover Zartan to any real extent are Dreadnoks Declassified and Snake Eyes Declassified.
He has blonde hair in the Snake Eyes Declassified and dark hair in the Dreadnok one. |

I just spent a few minutes going through all my Devil's Due Publishing Joe comics.
To quote a U2 song, "I still haven't found what I'm looking for." |

I think you're talking about the back up stories in America's Elite # 5 & 6. They focus on Zartan and give glimpses of his past.

Lifeline_71,
You are my hero. Thanks very much. Earlier, I looked at America's Elite #5 & the art looked right but I didn't see the part with the photograph. I looked at the end of America's Elite #6 & it is, indeed, the correct one. I will definitely have to re-read these. Last year, I re-read my entire Marvel G.I.Joe comic book collection to refresh my memory a bit. I think it's due time (no pun intended) that I re-read the entire DDP line. Thanks again. Best wishes, Kamakura Supporting the Joe team since 1983 |

I think this is the comic your thinking of. It was a 3 parter.
