I'm enjoing them, though the main title has been slightly dissappointing. We're on what, issue 4 now? And we're still fighting robot spiders. But Cobra #1 was cool and I really like origins so far.
The titles will be defined by the second or third arc, so we have a little ways to go. I'm enjoying them for now.

I like them, and I don't mind the ads-when we were kids there were a lot of ads also. They juet were scattered through the issue more.
I do wish there was more text and dialogue. And more exposition boxes. I like the art but art can't make up for very little text-the text is how the story is told.

am i the only one that rememebrs when i was a kid picking up comics for 1.25 or less brand new and them actually having depth to them? i was a sonic the hedgehog fan back then. i loved them.
3.99 just seems absurd. but then again everything is going up :(
man i even rememebr picking 3 packs of marvel or dc comics up at the dolalr store when i was a teenager.
thoes were good times.

I really like Origins.
The main title is Ok, but I am gonna give it a bit. I really like Chuck Dixon.
GIJOE Cobra has been cool so far.
I actually like the ads in the back, instead of every other page. It is the same amount of ads, just put together instead of spread out.
I wish comics weren'y so damn expensive, but it is a sign of the times.
Cobra has won. The Battle is over. Or is it?

I think they're great, so far. The prices are brutal though. I would buy many, many more comics if they were more reasonably priced. As it stands, I am only buying Mignola written Hellboy stories and the Joe stuff. Oh, and The Goon rocks too. Gorgeous art and great stories.

I agree with you COL the spiders are getting a little old. I'm hoping when they are done with this initial story they can switch to more concise story telling. I too remember picking up one comic and you got a great adventure that you didn't have to wait for 4-5 issues to end it. Still I'm happy with what I'm seeing, I just want more mission specific issues. Like Stalker an his Team goes to some hellhole and rescues a kidnapped scientist/diplomat. Or even more relevant, they retake a hijacked vessel off the coast of Somalia.

I agree completely. For 3.99 we should be getting a lot more story, not this drawn-out padded fight with a robot spider. In the old days, it would have over in one issue. Now we are up to five and who knows how many more. The book used to have subplots and multiple threads weaving together. This book, with it's bland story and bland art and bland colors, is just such a let down. For four bucks we deserve a lot more. I've always thought Chuck Dixon's books were light on story, and that's definitely the case on GI Joe.
There are still books out there that you read and feel it's money well spent, but IDW's GI Joe sure ain't one of them.

Origins has been pretty good... not terrific, but it's nice to have Larry Hama back.
Cobra has been good. I am really interested in this title. I've always liked Chuckles.
The main title has been... well, I'm pretty tired of all the Joes down in the Pitt stuck with the spiders. That's a storyline for one issue, not a whole miniseries, and certainly not an Opening miniseries. I'm still reading it, but it's disappointing me. Personally, I would like some more character information ASAP... who are these new guys? How have they changed the old guys? And let's get them out in the world hunting terrorists... and enough already with the Scottish video gamers! Just my opinion.
Why aren't there more Joes from the Deep South?
And would it kill Hasbro to give us a Marine Corps Officer?

I still remember buying brand new comics for less than $1. It's the prices that keep me from buying more. I'd like to keep up with all the Joe titles, all the Punisher titles and all his appearances like the good ol' days. But those days are over.
Forget it Jake, it's Hisstank.

I dont care much for the pacing. With all the titles churning stuff out each month, we still really havent seen much of Cobra. I'm all for adding in some new charecters, but so far it seems pretty sloppy to me. There needs to be more development of just about everything.
