so far i'm split with this run. I know it's only 4 issues (we did have issue #0 you people are forgetting), but it's not that great so far.

I think it is starting off well. Really gotta give it 12 issues and give it chance to take off.
I think they are doing a good job.

the second issue states the return of snake-eyes for the third and he isn't in it?
thanks for the heads up. i was going to get that issue cause the cover looks sweet but screw that. i already hate the series anyway.
female dial-tone, what a joke. brainstorm, loser
yup, stick with the origins line.
i read the movie script last week. i can easily say i will not pay to see the movie and i have no interest in the toys

I'm a big Joe comic fan and this run so far is disappointing. I hate the "campy" dialogue in issue one between BH and Duke. I agree that is SE is on the cover he should be in the issue. Also, the Groundskeeper Willie like conversations between destro's cronies suck in issue 3.

Feels like GI Joe to me. It's only the third issue, just hang in there. Besides there are like 3 different titles to choose from. GI Joe, Origions, and GI Joe Cobra. Maybe you'll like one of those better.

I like it so far. It's definitely a new version of GI Joe and not the one I grew up with, but that's not necesarrily a bad thing. It's a little more Sci-fi for my tastes, but it's working. I missed issue #2, but it was cool seeing Rock N' Roll in #3.
Forget it Jake, it's Hisstank.

Its not the worst thing in the world, but it doesnt feel right to me either. I'm hoping it will get better as the story goes on. Right now I'm just glad that gi joe is still being printed and the art is better than what Devil's due was putting out near the end.

I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet: The main plot of issue #3 of the IDW series is practically a straight-up remake of issue #3 of the original Marvel series. I guess Chuck Dixon is doing an homage-type thing.
More than that, though, the fact that I'm the only one who seems to remember what happened in that early issue of the original series makes me feel old.
And to add to a sentiment expressed in this thread by someone else, I much prefer GI Joe: Origins than GI Joe right now, although the sample size is pretty limited.

zuludelta, I also thought the same thing when I read it. I think it's awesome that he paid homage to the old marvel run! I really like this series so far. I hope they stick with similar story lines like in the marvel series but with a modern twist of course!
