Comic Book Resources > Preview: G.I. Joe #1
Comic book resources has a longer preview of #1 that has a two page spread of the Pit. 3 or 4 pages longer then the other preview and has more of Beachhead's and Duke's conversation. The Pit... wow.... Lots of recognizable vehicles in the background. Lots of people (support staff). It's a small city. We've seen (so far): Duke, Beachhead, Scarlett, Shipwreck, Flint and Torpedo. The girl that is the new Dial-Tone makes an appearance in this preview, but isn't called Dial-Tone but "Megs".

Looks interesting.
A different take on the Pit, but I like it. A LOT of support staff which makes sense. It's different, but familiar. It'll take some getting used to, but I think I'll like it.

It's nice to see all those old vehicles in there, and I'm loving the fact that it looks like Beach Head's finally going to have something to do.
At first I was really against a reboot but I've come to accept the fact that it's sometimes a necessary evil in the world of comics. Now I can't wait to see how these new books unfold. |

See Skyhawk, AWE Strikers, Wolverine and a Desert Fox.
Be interesting to see if they're just "easter eggs" (shown for fans to drool over) or if they'll be functional in the new comic. I love how Beachhead is complaining about being bored. That's the biggest "be careful what you wish for" thing to say...

Sounds like Beach Head's memories are screwed up, wonder what that's all about. I also saw a Havok, Ram and a couple of Tomahawks very cool.

Yeah, that was a little odd. I know that they have to "die" to become Joes (as shown in the Hama preview in #0). So that's why Beachhead is asking Duke what he misses about having a life outside the Joes. Beach says he's a "lifer", not sure what he means by that. My first thought was that he was in a coma or an accident prior to joining the Joes and has amnesia.

An accident or coma type thing makes sense. I haven't read #0 yet, ordered it from ebay yesterday, so I wasn't aware of the whole " dieing thing" that actually seems like a logical way to get accepted into a top secret group.

The art doesn't do it for me. I will probably pass.

I like the tribute to the vehicles and the familiar feel. It was a fun read, but that was because it was free and there were no ads. I'll save the multi-page rants for other days, but with multiple titles, high ad page count, and tough prices, I have to pass. I'd agree also that the art was good, but not enough to pull me in.
