Okay so I'm bored at work. I decided to peruse through the entire Marvel run, (1-155 only - no S.M. or Yearbooks), and count how many times each Joe appeared on the cover. I am just talking the good guys here - no Cobra. Here's what I learned:
Snake-Eyes - 38 Scarlett - 26 Storm Shadow - 21 Stalker - 20 Roadblock - 18 Hawk - 16 Flint - 12 Lady Jaye - 12 Rock & Roll - 11 Clutch - 9 I was really surprised Duke didn't crack the top 10, (a mere 6 covers for him - same number as Flash of all people). Stalker seemed to be the go-to cover boy for the first year or so. Hawk was also surprisingly low until the latter years where he appeared on the cover quite a few times. Oh and I didn't include Grunt's appearances in the upper left corner otherwise he would have won easily, lol, (he only appeared on one cover otherwise). This is not cover related, but I also noticed that the 6 characters who appeared in the "Hot Potato" back-up story in issue #1, (Hawk, Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, Stalker, R&R, and Clutch), went on to be the most commonly used of the original 13. This applies through all the series - Marvel, DDP, and IDW.

Cobra Commander - 24 Destro - 20 Various Dreadnoks - 13* Baroness - 8** Zartan - 6 Dr. Mindbender - 5 Fred VII - 4*** Serpentor - 3 Many others had two appearances - Firefly, Raptor, Major Bludd, S.A.W. Viper, Wild Weasel Various Cobra Troopers appeared on 19 covers. * included as a group but characters who appeared solo, (or close to it) include Zarana (3), Thrasher (2), Road Pig (2), Buzzer (1), Zanzibar (1) ** considering she was the first character we ever saw in the comics, it would be several years before she appeared on a cover *** wanted to keep him separate from the true C.C.

Snake-Eyes still kicks everyone's ass... Which is only fair considering the book was SNAKE-EYES and Ninja Force G.I.Joe for a while... Surprising Baroness didn't have more |

Haha, that's great. I was planning on cataloging the vehicle appearances from the ARAH line, not just the covers though, in the issue themselves.
A tidbit.... The Armadillo only appeared twice in the entire line, lol. Issues 37 and 67. That surprised me. |

Yeah Snake Eyes has a high count because he was on most of the latter issue (#120+) covers right?

Yeah those latter issues definitely padded his stats, but he was a regular cover boy almost from the beginning. For the first year or two though, Stalker was probably the most prominent.
