All right, I'll probably get some flack for this: but I've enjoyed the last two issues tremendously.
This issue features the return of the "Oktober Guard" (although they mention they're no longer called that) and a return to Benzheen. Plus Hama drops in some political commentary and Cobra Commander finds out about Billy. That last plot point is one that intrigues me. Will CC seek revenge on Billy's killers or will he simply hate Snake-Eyes all the more? Considering that CC projected the blame for his brother's death on Snake-Eyes, I would guess the latter. Yes, the idea of "Blue Ninjas" originally made me roll my eyes, but I like where they're going with the idea. I have the sense that the Blue Ninjas are what the Night Creepers shoulda/woulda been if timing and planning had been spent on them back in 1990 or so.

Compared to IDW's regular Joe title, I am all over ARAH. The whole ninja things is really getting played out. When the Blue Ninjas were introduced, I just rolled my eyes. I just want to see Cobra Commander use all his resources to take down the Blue Ninjas and steal Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow's thunder. Probably would be a great time to bring back Slice & Dice and even Slash from V vs V. Also, what ever happened to Billy's mother?

I was pleasantly surprised at 173.
I feel that the new Blue ninjas make more sense now - they aren't just a new faction in new outfits, they have something going we haven't quite seen before. Will be interesting to see how CC responds to the newest plot developments. Most of all, it's great to see some basic conventional military action heating up in the ME - I always like Hama's polictical commentary and with the real life events of 2011 freshly in mind, this couldn't be more timely. Also cool to see the return of OG and some Joe armor drivers who never really get enough face time. 173 seemed to cover a lot of ground in various plotlines and include a bit of everything that makes G.I.Joe what it is. |

I finally got a chance to read this one last night and I really liked it.
I totally dug the sequence with Cobra Commander. I agree, I want to see the Commander lay siege to the Blue Ninjas and wipe them out with firepower. The sequence in Benzheen was nicely done, with Hama's writing on both the military manuvers and the politics being nicely matched with Wagner's artwork. And always nice to see Cross Country! And on the last page, the battalion of HISS tanks... was that the V5 leading the charge?! Can't wait for the next issue.

I haven't read these new issues yet. Did Snake-Eyes kill Billy? How/why?!

Why in God's name would Snake Eyes kill Billy?

The OP said "That last plot point is one that intrigues me. Will CC seek revenge on Billy's killers or will he simply hate Snake-Eyes all the more? Considering that CC projected the blame for his brother's death on Snake-Eyes, I would guess the latter."
And, not having read the books, I'm confused. Billy's Killers? Why would CC hate Snake-Eyes more? HELP! How did Billy die?

Billy was killed in a battle with one of the Blue Ninjas, who was in turn killed by Snake Eyes.
