i have the 2004 rhino releases of ARAH season 1 part 1 and 2 and season 2 part 1. i see that the box set only has about 15-20 episodes that i dont have. these must have been season 2 part 2. did they ever make that from rhino? is the only way to get the episodes i dont have to buy the box set? cause im not spending 150 bucks for a few discs worth.

As far as I know Season 2.2 was never released. I remember hearing something about a dispute between Rhino and Hasbro that resulted in Rhino losing the rights to produce any more DVDs for the GIJoe series. I have the Footlocker set, and it's pretty kick ass but it wasnt cheap. I'm sure Shout! Factory will release the episodes you don't have in an individual set at some point.

thanks for the info. i saw a dvd for like 5 bucks at tru and it had like 8 episodes. it was the staple episodes though like countdown for zartan, red rockets glare, and cobras creatures. perhaps they will expand it soon.

Shout has all the Sunbow episodes on DVD. Not only in the footlocker complete set but also sold in individual volumes, much like Rhino had. You probably just want to by the last one Shout released being those are probably the ones Rhino didn't get to.

Also, last week Shout had a sale at there website selling all the volumes (every Sunbow episode) in a bundle for like $45. Even though you already have most of them, that is the best deal by far. And that way, all your cases will match, if you care about that sorta thing.

If it's the second part of season 2 you're missing, you can get the entire second season here:

Amazon.com: G.I. Joe, A Real American Hero: Season Two: Michael Bell, Frank Welker, Chris Latta, Buzz Dixon: Movies & TV (http://www.amazon.com/G-I-Joe-Real-American-Hero/dp/B0031L5CJO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1300210958&sr=8-2)

BUT, the missing episodes may be from season 1.3??? (I'm not sure if the 2004 release was broken down the same as the 2009/10 releases):

Amazon.com: G.I. Joe A Real American Hero: Season 1.3: Michael Bell, Frank Welker, Arthur Burghardt, Chris Latta, Buzz Dixon: Movies & TV (http://www.amazon.com/G-I-Joe-Real-American-Hero/dp/B002WIDRKS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300210958&sr=8-1)

If you know the names of the episodes you're missing, I'm sure someone here can chime in on which season they're from.

It's also way worth it to get the shout factory sets because of the special features. It's worth the price for the vintage toy comercials and docs. You don't have to buy them in the footlocker they sell the seasons broken into parts for like $17.99 at best buy or target

You can look back in the threads as there was a long technical discussion over the differences in these volumes. I think there were some differences in sound and in the picture. Opinions differed - some said Shout was better, others preferred the 5.1 sound of Rhino. I personally am just glad that if I want to watch an episode, I have it and it is clear!

I think Shout's packaging is superior to Rhino, though. I have one set from Rhino that has been through a move and it's paper box has been nearly crushed! Shout's boxes seem to much more sturdy - I bought the Footlocker set so can't speak with authority on that.

If you have all these others on Rhino, I think you will be happy with the Shout dvds, though. It at least completes your set!

I was lucky. I had the Rhino set and was very sad they never released S2.2. However, I was lucky enough to find someone here who was unhappy with their footlocker set and traded that to me for the Rhino set. I'm really happy with the Footlocker set and as mentioned earlier, getting those vintage commercials was so worth it. In the interviews too, there was one guy who looked just like the 25th Breaker too! Don't know if anyone caught that. Forgot his name though.

Buy Shout Factory's GI Joe Season 2.0, it has all the episodes you are missing and can be bought on Amazon for $20. You will then have doubles of all the episodes you have on the Rhino Season 2.1 set. Maybe you can sell it to someone for a few bucks.

The Rhino sets are junk. Make the upgrade to Shout! Factory's superior release!

I know there was a thread about this recently but I can't find it and I never got an answer maybe someone here knows. Is there ever going to be a shout factory official release of the dic series?

I was recently exposed to about 5 early episodes and it was much better then I remember. It wasn't nearly as God awfull as people make it out to be

I love my Footlocker. I had originally picked up the first two DVD sets before someone here on the Tank was kind enough to sell me the Footlocker for a steal.

If anyone still needs them, I still have those first two Shout DVD sets (the first was opened but never used and the second is still sealed).

They haven't offically confirmed or denied they are going to release the DIC produced G.I. Joe episodes. The DIC episodes are one of the most requested titles on the Shout Factory Community boards. I think it will happen, eventually.

I found this with a Google search:

Shout! Factory's 2011 DVD Line-Up (Tentative) (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thread/305588/shout-factory-s-2011-dvd-line-up-tentative/150)

Post #158 and #160 are of particular interest.

ive been recording the gi joe episodes off of the hub and it has been showing a few episodes that arent on the rhino set. the one im watching now, "operation mind menace", is NOT on rhino dvd sets. i might have to buy the footlocker after all. that sucks. i thought all it was missing was the second half of season 2

Don't forget that all of the DVDs found in the footlocker can also be bought as part of DVD sets (about $20 or so for each 4 disc set, cheaper in some places -- I've seen them selling for $12 at some used DVD shops). It's a much, much cheaper alternative to buying the whole footlocker if all you're looking to do is to fill in the episode gaps in your Rhino DVD collection.

Operation mind menace is the first episode on disc 4 of the rhino season 1 part 1 box set.
