Why Blowtorch and Croc Mustard again instead of characters that haven't received the 25th/ME/RoC/PoC treatment?

Are there still going to be online exclusive 7-packs this summer? If so, any hints?

Pursuit of Cobra has brought forth some of the most exciting figures we've seen in the modern Joe line, including classic versions of Low-Light and Crazylegs and great new takes on favorites like Snake-Eyes, Duke and Dusty. We've also seen great leaps in accessories (pistols with detachable suppressors, rifle cases, load-bearing vests, knife sheaths) and articulation with hinged wrists. With that said, in what particular ways would the artists/designers love to see new figures and gear evolve? Perhaps rifle slings or storage pouches for removeable magazines? Greater range of articulation in elbow or waist joints? Greater detail and/or functionality in uniforms, helmets and vests? New characters?

I don't know why they are bothering to do a Q&A so close to JoeCon. I have a feeling every answer will be "just wait until the Con!"

Any troop builder multipacks in the works?

Any plans for a Sarge, Zarana or Dialtone in a more ME/POC format for the people who missed out on the exclusives?

Can we expect to see any command centers released in the near future? The general, Terrordrome, Mobile Command center, etc.

what is the likely hood that MOST (im not saying all) of the remaining classics characters(not produced in 25th format) will get a 25th style resembling most of what the character originally looked like?

with the new low light, and with images of the new 30-30 sci-fi and technoviper, that gives hope to us that you will keep getting the classics out to us in some form or another (poc, 30 for 30). we would still love to see classics as cover girl, footloose, airtight, etc...

Will the cockpit be a 2 or 1 seater?

WeaponXCustoms
03-14-2011, 10:59 PM
Will the new Steel Brigade Vamp Driver be offered as a single release figure?

And as a suggestion it'd be nice if the company was a little more pro-active, with fan polls and direct representation on the boards as far as suggestions are concerned. Croc Master, and Blowtorch probably would not have made it past the fans if we actually had your ear. The Marvel Universe fans have been very fortunate to have some very public Hasbro figures actually spend time in the community, so why not with something as old as Gi-Joe?

We already seen the new Zarana figures for the san diego comic con 2011. will it be possible for action figures to be made are Zartan's brother Zandar and based on the devil's due design for the gijoe comic book series his daughter Zanya?

I like the costume design on the characters from the gi joe comic book series by devil's due and IDW, will we see action figures based on the comic book like scarlett from america's elite series and idw comic book series?

will there be figures for the classic line like airtight, footloose, frostbite, iceberg, law and order, fast-draw, jinx, lifeline, cross country, budo, toxo-viper, red dog, mercer, taurus, hardball, metal-head, nullifier, seco-viper, ice-viper?

Do any of the upcoming items we have already seen belong to the 30 for 30 line?

I think the Sky Striker is the 1st one.

Will the POC line see any comic pack releases?

We asked about it late last year, here's what they said
IDW designs aren't off-limits, per se. These designs are just not part of our current strategy. Comic based designs and comic packs are something that come up frequently in conversations but we haveno current plans foreither. The reality is that they are just not feasable in the current line. They end up being too expensive and don't sell well enough to justify.

At Toy Fair, while we saw new single figures and bravo vehicles, nothing was shown for the $10-15 price range (ie, comic packs, Alpha vehicles, deluxe figures akin to Target's RoC exclusives). Are there plans to produce mass retail items in that range, and if so, can we get some info on them?

There have been a number of figures produced in the GI Joe line that were only available with multipacks or store exclusives (the 2008 Joe and Cobra 5 packs, the TRU exclusive RoC Snow Serpent, the Python Patrol Viper, even Lt. Falcon). Has there been thought given to polling fans about rereleasing some of these figures in the mass market single card format?

Repeatedly, it has been said we are NOT going to get those big scale items. If fans can't get the Flagg after 4 years of harking about, we sure as hell aren't going to get a Defiant.

Retailers aren't really "supporting " the Joe brand. Main collectors are frustrated that they can't walk into a store and buy what they want these days. From my understanding this was mainly due to the ROC phase that didn't sell as well as they (retailers) wanted to just because a Movie was attached to the Joe brand. With a new Movie out next year, obviously stores will buy what you offer. But, what is being done to prevent this again?

Is Hasbro working with the studios as far as designs for the film (to translate to toys) instead of the other way around? There is no way, that some of the ROC toyline were Hasbro ideas. You are so much better than that.

Rumors on the net is that Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are the only ones returning for the second movie. Are we going to have nothing but variations of these three characters for the movie? The same three characters we the collectors are sick and tired of seeing on the pegs?

I applaud Hasbro for their preview at Toy Fair 2011 of the 12” Real American Hero Assortment of action figures (Police K-9 Unit, First Responder Firefighter, U.S. Marine, and National Guardsman), to be released on the tenth anniversary of events when both parents and children rediscovered the importance of these heroes. Can Hasbro PLEASE release these figures in 3 ¾” scale also, in the incredible detail and quality which we enjoy with the Pursuit of Cobra line of products?

1) Most Walmart stores have decided to quit carrying Joes this month. Most Target and Toys R Us stores haven't ordered anything new since December. Its heading towards April (thus the first Quarter of 2011) and nothing new is populating on shelves. When can we expect to start seeing newer product?

2) Are there going to be any female Joe characters getting a single carded release this year?

3) Besides the Skystriker are there anymore classic/vintage vehicles that will get an all new modernized update for the 30th Anniversary line?

4) ROSS has become a great resource in getting cancelled RoC/PoC figures and vehicles. Any chance of Hasbro working directly with this store to give us product that major retailers are reluctant to carry or just not ordering as expected (PoC Waves 3 & 4)?

Seeing as Arctic Destro, Dusty and Storm Shadow have been warming every peg around, why would hasbro choose to pack 2 Croc Masters in a case? Wouldn't it make more sense to pack only one of a previously released figure in a case? Why not make most figures one per case and army builders 2 per case? That is with the exception of vintage remakes (such as low light or the upcoming crazy legs) as they seem to sell great.

I can give you Hasbro's answers for those questions.

1. The last two additional waves of POC are expected to arrive in stores in April and May. In fall 2011, (August) the wave will include Renegades characters and switch to all new cards!

2. Females are not very popular with retailers. (even though the Star Wars and Marvel include them) We have heard the fans in regards to Zarana and though we cannot promise anything, (<---pay attention to that last part guys!) we are looking into putting her into a slot in the line this fall.

3. Stay tuned!

At Toy Fair, the prototype figure of the Renegades Snake Eyes had new arm tooling with swivel wrists. The Hasbro GI Joe presentation, however, had the City Strike/Resolute Snake Eyes arms instead. Which tooling should we expect to see for the upcoming Renegades Snake Eyes?

Will there be an online exclusive 7 pack this year? Could it be a PoC Style Oktober Guard? :D

We've seen "cancelled" items showing up at Ross stores. But many joe fans don't have access to these stores. Can Hasbro help these fans out? Could vehicles like the Polar Shark be available online ala DTC?

And how do "cancelled" items show up at retail in the first place?

1.) With most Walmart's not carrying GI Joe anymore and most Target's stuffed with Wave 2, how does Hasbro intend on getting the next 2 waves and future waves onto store shelves for customers to buy?

2.) Hasbro is a business and a businesses major goal is to make money. So, with such a high demand for Sgt Slaughter and Zarana, why are they not being released at retail? Lots of money is to be made, but it doesn't seem Hasbro wants to take advantage of it.

1) Will the most prominent markings on the upcoming Skystriker be tampoed/painted on? This seems like a feature that is overdue for Joe toys.

2) Given recent successes like the Star Wars AT-AT, has Hasbro considered making an all new, larger, more solid and more detailed mold of the classic Cobra Rattler? I, for one, would army build such a beast with a Cheshire smile upon my mug.

1 - With Zarana being a SDCC exclusove, many fans are worried about her availability since the Sarge sold out before the convention ended and many fans were never able to get him. The previous year the SDCC Destro was readily available even after the conventionon HTS for months. Undoubetly there will be a huge fan demand for her. Is Hasbro taking this into consideration when determining a production quantity?

2 - There seems to be confusion over what is actually 30 for 30. Are 3 3/4 in. figures and vehicles included only, or does the 12 in. also take up places in the line up?

3 - Are there any plans to offer internet exclusive 7 packs like the Cobra Island sets so that fans may complete their classic figure want lists (Dreadnoks especially)?

4 - Hasbro used fan polls to determine which character to offer in the Rescue Doc promotion. Any plans to use fan polls for a Fans' Choice figure, or for a specific Joe product offered soon?

5 - Fans are rejoicing at the Dial Tone offered through the club because we are getting another classic character. What considerations are there for characters being given to the club to produce instead of using the character for mass retail?

Will there be enough SDCC Zarana's on HTS.com for after the show this year?

Maybe produce a good amount just for HTS.com instead of selling what's left over. You know they'll sell! :) As long as you keep putting out highly desired characters in 25th style for SDCC, your gonna keep letting down non convention attendees. And I only hope that's a concern for you guys.

11) If the cartoon becomes a major success, will it encourage stores to allow more room for Joe product in retail?

12) Once the second film comes out next year, will we only see movie related merchandise or will movie figures be incorporated into the overall Joe brand?

13) Any plans of making the 2011 Skystriker into a Night Boomer repaint?

14) Is there a reason why most large vehicles recently produced such as the Night Raven, The upcoming Osprey and the Skystriker can only fit one figure? Is the manufacturing for two seater cockpits more costlier than lights, sounds and spring loaded missiles?

Different design teams within Hasbro. It's like with Transformers, the main TakaraTomy/Hasbro team works on the mainline but the Galoob Action Fleet team absorbed into Hasbro, and is responsible for Titaniums, works on Star Wars Transformers and MAYBE Marvel Transformers. Very big differences in execution.

14) Is there a reason why most large vehicles recently produced such as the Night Raven, The upcoming Osprey and the Skystriker can only fit one figure? Is the manufacturing for two seater cockpits more costlier than lights, sounds and spring loaded missiles?

The Sky Striker is a one seater because of all of the new parts added into the cockpit. I don't think there was added electronics. Physically, with all the new parts, there is no room.

As for the other 2, don't know, BUT the Night Raven in the movie was also a 1 seater, hence why the ROC toy was too.

Uhm...assuming this year's Q&As follow the same rules as last year's, about 99 percent of the questions in this thread are invalid/ineligible.

They're not going to answer any "Is X being made?" questions with anything beyond a "Wait and see" or "We can't promise anything but...wait and see!"

I'm pretty sure the staff knows that when they compile their list and send in their questions to Hasbro.

Will the skystriker be unassembled like the other POC vehicles or the Night Raven/snowserpent.

Will the cockpit be a 2 or 1 seater?

Judging by the box, yes, some 'tankers here mentioned there being new seam lines aft of the canopy which may indicate separation points. While the new Sky Striker is new tooling using the old one as a basis, it's constructed differently in some areas, and may possibly be taken apart in more areas. What this does is reduce footprint on shelf, leaving space for more units to be placed.

Cockpit is 1 seater because there is no physical room in the cockpit for more than 1 pilot due to the new parts look very closely at the cockpit pictures in the following:
G.I. Joe Modern Sky Striker Images - GI Joe News (http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/toy-fair-17/gi-joe-modern-sky-striker-images-10152/)

will we see a howler jet from gijoe rise of cobra movie for the POC line, how about a gi joe tomahawk?

No Howler until GI Joe 2, chances are higher IF it shows up in GI Joe 2 AND if the prototype ever made it past the resin stage to tool cutting. That last part, I'm not even sure if it made it that far.

Any upcoming 7 packs?

We should know officially at JoeCon

Are there any plans for a Renegades Video game or a new G.I. Joe game aimed at an older audience?

That's something to ask the HUB and Hasbro's entertainment arm, not the GI Joe design team.

What is the status of the POC Alpha Wave 3 vehicles?

• HISS Attack Scout w/Cobra Hiss Driver
• GI JOE Transformable Cycle Armor w/Ashiko

They were not shown at Toyfair as a 2011 release.
Are these vehicles canceled or possible for a limited release through stores like ROSS?

2) Are there going to be any female Joe characters getting a single carded release this year?

No kidding. It's been a sausage fest wave after wave.

1) will the 30 for 30 line include modern/POC updated characters or more ARAH/classic looking figures?

2) What characters will be appearing in the second film?

3) Will any female figures be made single cared and who?

Tankers here mentioned there being new seam lines aft of the (Skystriker's) canopy which...may possibly be taken apart...reduce footprint on shelf...

Yep. It evidentally looks like a seam. Perhaps from that small seam we can ask a broader design question (addressing a number of inquiries shared on the thread) related to Hasbro's seeming effort to make more tightly designed, large toys.

DESIGN-RELATED QUESTION = Your designs seem to make an effort to affordably make large toys. One can see it in the "seam" mindfully designed in the Skystriker; to fit in a smaller package. Can we expect more large toys, now possible with smarter designs fitted in slimmer packages? The past movie toys were indeed too small; Night Raven. Yet the present Skystriker seems to indicate bigger things in the future.

Example, if Zartan uses his Presidential Helicopter Squadron's Chinook CH-47 in the sequel; your smart tightly-made designs can make the 2 cowlings atop removable, like how Skystriker's nose-canopy is removable. It cuts height/size in half yet doesn't sacrifice on the helicopter's large scale; still fitting in a slim box. Of which can also make 2 helicopters = Zartan's Presidential Chinook and 2. a repaint of a bigger better Tomahawk many fans enthusiastically clamour for. Again, like Skystriker's removable canopy; can we expect to see a continuation of such tightly-designed, large toys?

Will the new sky striker have the landing gear operate independently of the swing wing lever?

Are there going to be any more classic RAH vehicles like the TOMAHAWK OR WHALE?

Any possibility of coming out with a re-designed USS FLAGG? Many have speculated that the island would be a fold out playset with possible rubber mats to connect together to make the flight deck. Considering the standard garage mats are about 20$ for 8 2ftx2ft, this could definately make it more affordable allowing more funding to go toward the island superstructure.

Thanks for your time.

15) The Sci-fi figure that was showcased in this year's Toyfair looks like a completely new sculpt. What compelled designers to include a second helmet? Also, is there a new head sculpt under the helmet?

16) The 30 for 30th Anniversary product assortment includes an array of vehicles and figures from 3.75" to 12". As for the decision making, will entirely new characters not related to Renegades be made to fit into the upcoming waves?

17) For 2012, will we continue to see more modernized updates to vintage ARAH vipers?

18) For the for environmental themes of the Pursuit of Cobra we only received three carded figures for the arctic theme. Most of us are wondering why some of the most noticeable characters in the arctic setting are not being utilized in recent case assortments. Any plans to make much more for good balance?

19) From the 25th Anniversary until now we have received single carded and 3-pack issued drivers that have not received their designated vehicles to date. With Ace finally being packed with a new Skystriker, is it a sign of good things to come for 2011-2012?

In the past, Hasbro Toy Shop offered stands for Star Wars figures. Any chance of offering GI Joe and Cobra stands since both stands have 2 foot pegs now?

General.

They won't answer that they've always said that it's dependent on retailers. So they would be the right people to ask.

What is a point having Q&A, convention showing all the new toys when I don' see any of them at retail stores?

HasClown, work on your distribution before having this pointless Q&A.

My Walmart has not carried GI Joe for almost a year. And yet, I have ALL of the figures released in the past 6 months.

There's this thing called "the internet" where you can find these things called "websites" which actually sell stuff!

And more importantly, Hasbro has ZERO control over distribution. Once Hasbro gives the retailer, be it Walmart or Target, or TRU, their order, Hasbro has no control what gets where. If you are having problems locating product in your area, you need to complain to the STORES, NOT Hasbro.

As a consumer, we shouldn't need to understand about distribution process, this should be done by manufactures and retailers. Manufactures responsible to produce goods and retailers responsible to deliver goods to consumers. If we're continue having all these Q&A sessions from a producers but the retailers will never done their job so what is the point of asking question?

I think we are not in the right track. We should held Q&A with Target, Walmart and TRU instead with Hasbro.

What will the ratio of 30th Anniversary to Renegades items be for however long these lines co-exist, or at least for 2011?

Will the 30th Anniversary and Renegades lines (or any other lines that emerge prior to Summer 2012) continue alongside the toy line for the next GI Joe movie, or will the movie line take precedence to the exclusion of these other lines?

2. Will it be possible to make a red variant of Storm Shadow to be a more accurate version of the Red Ninja?

3. Will the ARAH Zaranna be available at retail, and the Cold Slither version be the SDCC Exclusive?

Thank you.

Gotta acknowledge fellow Tanker named Starfighter whose sharp eyes pointed out that its also the CH-46 that inspired the Tomahawk. Join the friendly discussion here - http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-general-discussion/100435-tomahawk-chinook-airdrop-water-nuclear-reactors.html Although not precisely identical to either 1 of the 2 helicopters, its said that both birds nevertheless did inspire the Tomahawk. On a sequel related note, like the CH-47 the CH-46 is part of the Presidential Helicopter (Support) Squadron. So hopefully we will see either 1 of the 2 in the sequel with President Zartan! Personally I do like the paint job on the CH-46 (below). But if the movie production crew chooses the CH-47 maybe the CH-46 twin-striped paint scheme can still be used as a very subtle homage...
