battlestar galactica razor?

where does it fit in the series? just started watching and don't want to watch out of order.

Razor is a complete background storey on the Pegasus you have what happened after the attack on the Colonies, the first mission that it goes on with Lee at the helm. I keep mine between Seasons 2.5 and 3. But if you have not seen the rest of the series trust me it will not make sense since it’s in and out of the Galactica’s fleet story.

Razor was meant to be viewed between season 3 and season 4. It has a lot to do with the foreshadowing of season 4. Most of the premise for season 4 is set up or mentioned briefly in Razor. Razor takes place over the span of 40+ years through flashbacks and covers a lot of ground so stay sharp.

the events take place between season 2 and 3. but yeah, it could well fit more between 3 & 4. as it points more to the prophecy and all.

it acts as a stand alone. i don't think you'll miss anything if you fail to watch it, as it's not really that gonna be a major part of the continuity. but gives a more background on what really happened to Pegasus and all. how they become like that such and such. it's more like a movie based on the reaction of fans and what fans have been wondering all along.

then we get to see more on Pegasus, before Apollo decides to thrash it.

plus we get to see Lt. Kendra Shaw. :D

Razor is actually the first and second episodes of season 4. Int he production materials it is listed as episode 401 and 402. They need to be watched first before you proceed with season four. In the internal numbering the first broadcast episode is 403.
If you are watching the dvd version of Razor it has an extended cut that gives you a massive amount of information about season 4, especially at the end when the climax draws near. The cylon hybrid divulges the entire plot of season 4 in his "prophecy." The entire season is laid out, about 1/3rd of it has already transpired. It gives a lot of information that will pay off and it sets up some of the reasons for the cylon civil war in season 4.
