International G.I. Joe Collectors' Convention - GIJoeCon 2011! (http://www.gijoecon.com/fl2011/)

03/10/2011 - We only have 38 American Hero registered attendee packages left for this year's "Mission Brazil 2" set and we are currently sold out of the non-attending Homefront Hero package. IF we have any left by next Tuesdays deadline, we will move the attending packages into the non-attending inventory. So, if you are planning on joining us at this year's GIJoeCon - do not wait any longer as the deadline is almost here! We look forward to seeing everyone soon in Orlando!

Yup. I really wish I would have known about the "Homefront Heroes" thing beforehand. I had just always assumed that they were ONLY taking pre-orders for the Convention because it's considered a "Convention Exclusive". Had I known there was a way to reserve one of these before the convention and without attending the Con', I would have done that long, long ago.

Really? FunPub has been offering a non attendee set since they began the conventions. Not to mention the information has been readily available on www.gijoecon..com for a few months.

I'm happy for the club and the sellout. I look forward to the rest of the exclusives.

Oh hey, I'm not complaining at all, I'm not saying its anyone's fault. It's totally all on me for not having done due diligence to see if I could reserve one outside of going to Convention. I'll know for next year now! Knowing is half the battle and all...

Nonetheless, I'll still be waiting on the outside looking in on this one for the time being.

This is kinda historic. There's never been a sellout before con. If you were hoping to have a friend pick a boxed set up for you at con, now would be the time to message him and make sure he can still do it for you.

That brings up an interesting situation since you have to purchase a boxed set to get the bagged set. What happens if they only have bagged sets left?

Do those become fair game to anybody?

I'd assume they'd be made available first to anyone who already bought boxed and bagged sets. Giving them first dibs on extras if they want them.

Not as upset about missing this set as I thought i would be. Guess its cause it just doesn't look as good as I had hoped. Truthfully all i wanted was the steel cobra but i cannot justify paying the price for the set for one bloody figure. I'll just have to make one...like that is a challenge ha ha!

I highly doubt they would sell the bagged sets at con. When you buy a boxed set, you are given the option to purchase a bagged set. If you don't buy the boxed set right away, you can still buy the bagged in the future. They also make less bagged sets than boxed sets (or at least they used to)

But then again, I highly doubted the con set would sell out before con given recent history. So although I doubt they'd sell bagged sets individually, it wouldn't shock me if they did given what's going down this year.

One thing I have seen over and over again is confusion on which package is which. Homefront Hero, Generals, etc. It is confusing. Compiled with that is the pointless timer they put on the order page pressuring you to make a decision otherwise you have to start over. I know someone that ordered the wrong set because of that. The club corrected it but charged him $25 for the change. What a joke. They didn't do anything except change some info in a computer and that was $25? They should make the packages more understandable.

I posed this same question yesterday in the who is going thread (I think), and thought about it even more. Still have no idea. I would almost see them offering them to people who show up and want to register as Attendees at the Con - after the Box sets are gone.

I'd assume they'd be made available first to anyone who already bought boxed and bagged sets. Giving them first dibs on extras if they want them.

Yes, I agree - if you mean when people are picking up their sets. But only for those who did not already purchase a bag set. I don't see more than one bag set per box set.

I highly doubt they would sell the bagged sets at con. When you buy a boxed set, you are given the option to purchase a bagged set. If you don't buy the boxed set right away, you can still buy the bagged in the future. They also make less bagged sets than boxed sets (or at least they used to)

There are 350 bag sets per registration Info page.

I am at an officer level and have not gotten any info recently at all. I am the one that asked (tkjaer21) on the Mastercollector forums and that is the only outlet that I have been updated on because I had to personally ask. Check for yourself. The announcement of 38 sets left came out right after the commander responded to me on those forums. There should be a daily update so that everyone will know and it will increase sales as well awareness on the status if you can still purchase them or not. I am just saying, I have not heard anything on Twitter, Facebook, their website, emailed club members until I asked at all. The communication is not there on a daily basis as things wind down, in which it should be as many are starting to get paranoid. I am just glad I got my set in and want others to do so as well so that they do not lose out.

LOL. Clearly you must have gotten your Tanks from 2007. Or maybe your Fuscia set was limited to 250 sets. Or maybe the figures in your Moth sets weren't Army Builders.

Not sure when the club has been anything other than a buisness that looks out for it's self first, and if it can look like it's helping fans and not too much trouble then they'll do that too.

I am right here to answer your questions. We are sold out. The only ones we have left are one pulled for damage returns. Any still on hand have been allotted for guests and staff.

They were selling at a decent rate, and we were even a little nervous that with all the excitement about a 25th ME tooling set, they were not selling as fast as we thought they would. But then about 3 weeks ago they started to go fast as the deadline approached and then boom, before we knew it they were flying out of inventory.

There are zero being held back for walk up registration. They are sold out...

The Python Stun is a good bet as it was a Convention Exclusive before and they still have the mold. Plus, we are getting the Python Motor/Nitro-Viper. The other would be the the Brazillian version of Water Moccasin which is Maroon instead of Aqua/Sea Green.

The Club doesn't typically just reissue vintage vehicles. In fact, I can't think of any time they've ever done it.

The idea is that since these are marketed at pretty hard-core GI Joe collectors - the type who would fly across the country to go to the official con - it's a good bet they have the vintage versions already. And if they don't - well, it's the official GI Joe Con, so they could probably get them right there if they wanted.

Yes, Hasbro does this - but there's going for the "hey, I remember having that as a kid - now I can get a minty fresh new one again" market, while too many convention goers would say "hey, I remember having that as a kid - and I've army-built the heck out of by getting ten of these on Ebay over the years."

There are tons of vehicle molds that never got the Python treatment to choose from. Personally, I bet the Motor Viper is meant for a VAMP or Stinger in Python colours. It'd be perfect for collectors too, as we'd finally have something to tow the Python ASP.

The Moccasin... MAYBE. It's rare enough that if they do, people will buy it. However, I still kind of doubt it. As rare as it is, we're still talking about a Collector's Club here, and they're not out to devalue anyone's rare items. Besides, again, there's just too much choice out there - they could easily do a Python VAMP, a Python Stinger, a Python Ferret, a Python HISS, SNAKE Armor, MMS, FANG, CLAW, Rattler, etc... The list goes on. So why bother just rehashing something when they could do something new?

Doubt it.

I'm no club expert but I know they have released the Stun, Moray, and a bunch of other vehicles at prior conventions.

If they were to offer a red Moccasin at the con I can only see it raising the prices of the extremely rare Brazilian version by putting it into the collective mindset. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that most G I Joe Collectors even know of its existence.

The Club has in fact reissued the HISS Tank a few times as well as the Fang I believe. Keep in mind, that the newer figures are 4-inches and not 3.75 so they will only use the stuff that works and of what they have available. Most likely being the 25th scaled reissues in a different paint scheme. Thus, a 25th reissued Brazilian Water Moccasin in Maroon. The STUN was issued in a Dreadnok scheme but fits the scale as well and they have the piece, so that is a huge possibility.

The Python Motor/Nitro-Viper could also come with a Pythonized version of the Steel Crusher A.P.V. too.

I thought the APV couldn't be used by the Club because of movie rights stuff.

I think that the Movie Rights stuff only refers the the figures themselves that have the actor's likeness on them. Most likely, I am wrong though.

I thought it was anything seen in the movie. But that's only rumor from fellow internet nerds. Nothing concreted from Hasbro either way I don't think.

Reissued, not repainted. I had that exact same reply you just posted up with about 15 other vehicles and ready to submit, before I reread his post and noticed he was talking straight re-release.

Hey Pete! When will we see the rest of the Con exclusives?

No, they used the same molds, but they were not reissues and were almost always in drastically different colours. They've never just straight-up reissued vehicles, even rare ones (though the crimson HISS they did in 2002 comes close to the SMS).

If they were to offer a red Moccasin at the con I can only see it raising the prices of the extremely rare Brazilian version by putting it into the collective mindset. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that most G I Joe Collectors even know of its existence.

I doubt it.

A lot of people would be happy to have the Con red Moccasin if that were to happen, considering how rare and expensive the original is. Demand might go down for the Brazil version in that case. Or maybe not, but I seriously doubt it go up (it's already very expensive). But who knows - you're right that the 25th Moccasin is in fact quite different from the original, so maybe.

I still think it's more likely to be a Python Moccasin if they use that mold, though. I mean, it's kind of weird that Copperhead is in Python Patrol, but he doesn't have his ride, you know...

^^ Ah I see. Re-issues will not happen because the foot pegs don't work for ME figures, right?

That may factor into their decisions as well, though they might remold those.

Still, there are plenty of vehicles that wouldn't need it, or have already been remolded to fit 25th figures. Maybe a Python Skyhawk or VAMP?
