I looked about 3 or 4 pages back and couldn't find a thread about this. I'm surprised with all the Marvel fans we have here, that there's no buzz about this game. I'm sure we have our fair share of Capcom fans as well, with Resident Evil et al.
Anyhow, I'm getting it tomorrow when it comes out. It's seems like I've been waiting on this game forever. It's definitely my most highly anticipated game in the last 5 years or so. Is anybody else excited? Is anyone else buying the game?

I will be picking up the SE version of the game as I'm a hardcore Capcom fan and a avid Marvel fan.

Hopefully this thread will give some insight to whats up...I'm a HUGE Capcom guy and MVC2 is probably one of my all time favorites.
I admitt I was a bit dissapointed with the last Street Fighter...I dunno, it just kinda lacked something and there was too much BS going on.
I'm hoping MV3 just returns to it's roots and keeps it the way it was intended...linear and "simple".
I guess I just want mildly updated gameplay and shit load more characters!

There's already 38 characters that have been revealed on it. Granted that's no where near as many as the arcade MVC2, but it's still a lot. If you don't know who's in it so far here's the link to the official website:

Good characters so far...I would've loved..and griped about this before...a damn classic looking Punisher that had moves like Cable, but it's all good.
I'll go for Akuma 1st as usual!

I went to get it at my local TRU (along with the $15 gift certificate) and of course they were sold out. What I don't get is the character selection. Now I won't comment on the Capcom side because well... I am more of a comic geek... but the Marvel selection? I see it breakdown like this:
Mainstays / Staples
Cap, Thor, IM, Spidey, Hulk, Wolverine (UGH so sick of Wolverine)
Bring on the mutants / females
Phoenix, Storm, X-23 and She-Hulk. I am so surprised that SH made the cut. Honest, I am.
Oh don't forget the uber-popular Deadpool
The Villains
Dormammu MODOK, Doom Shuma-Gorath, Super Skrull, Taskmaster, Magneto and a Sentinel
My problem characters? Modok, Shuma-Gorath, X-23, and Taskmaster. I actually would have kept Taskmaster and booted Deadpool. Who would I replace them with?
I don't know... but Goliath / Giant-man would have been a nice addition. How about Captain Marvel or Ms Marvel? Molecule Man or Absorbing Man?

You forgot Magneto. But if the game does well (and I have a feeling it will, it's already sold out several places), we can always bug the hell out of them to add more of our beloved Marvel (and Capcom) characters next time around.

I haven't bought a new game for my ps3 in about a year and half as an attempt to cut back on my spending, but I'm considering this game. Will there be DLC? Are they going to release a Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.1 Alpha/Omega/Onslaught Edition in a year with an expanded roster like they occasionally do with the Street Fighter games?

i was playing it and it feels weird. its not fast enough?! i dont knwo how to describe it. m v c 2 had faster action. hulk is a pain in the ass. his damage is insane.

omg...I thought the exact same thing...it feels noticeably slower than mvc2. also...someone asked earlier for a breakdown or if they thought it was worth it...i'm gonna say it's a toss up. the game is pretty much what you would expect decorated with the sf4 graphic style. There is no story mode but it had character specific endings when beating arcade mode. I do have a feeling they will release a Greatest Hits Edition or something down the road with the dlc characters etc. I haven't played the game online and can only play a friends' copies. I was going to get it for PS3 but I want to save my money for the new Mortal Kombat game in April and I have to get the special edition of that cuz I will have to have all the outfits and DLC and I know I will play that online all the time. altho...don't get me wrong...if you like fighting games mvc3 is certainly one I'd buy if I had the expendable income. I feel like there are just too many games out anymore and never enough money or time to play! grrr...

It's still free form though, right? I've really hated the last few MK games simply because everything requires a combo.
I been playing as Deadpool, Ammy and Dante. Pretty solid game. Though, lack of Strider makes me sad.

Finally played it tonight (actually I'm still playing it now). If you guys think this game is slow, then I guess I'm REALLY behind the power curve. I don't need it to be any faster than it already is. Having said that, I love it so far and can't wait to unlock more characters. I've only unlocked Akuma and Sentinel so far.

I know a few of u said it....but the game is not slow by far....I've been playing SF since the first arcade machine.......the button scheme yes..! I would change back to 6 buttons... but slow NO!. Its a great game,the online ranked matches suck(cus everyone and there fucking mother wants to use Sentinal)..But the un ranked matches are fun as hell,and you can also start a party and play with your friends.......If you love SF and Marvel there is no lose here.......:-)
Is it me or are achivements/trophies alot easier to get in this game?
I already unlocked Akuma anthe ghost girl from Dark Stalkers.

I am not that good at games, but I love the...Marvelous, Marvel Vs Capcom 3! My prefered team likely will change, but for right now it is, Wolverine, Thor, and Chun Li.

The game is awesome, easy access for everyone who played it for the first time. It's like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. The downside for me is that some characters are over power and the roster itself, is weak, granted DLC, but $5 per character is questionable. Overall, it's a good game.

NautoAce00125xx, Taskmaster is a great addition to, Marvel Vs Capcom 3! He is a walking arsenal of Hawkeye's Bow, Black Knights Energy Sword, a rope to swashbuckle on, a copy of Captain America's Shield etc.

I hear ya man. Its fast, faster than SF4, imo. Not quite on the level of MvsC2 but its close.

There may be more to come down the road. I heard a rumor Juggernaut may get released later as well. DLC ftw!
I consider myself to be decent at fighting games but in ranked matches, I'm like 6 and 14 or something. Its pretty brutal and people always use the cheesiest combos.
I heard Strider Maybe DLC as well.

MVC3 def has that "3D" feel that SF4 had, and isn't as lightining fast as MVC2...but it's fast and well rounded...once you find a team you're having fun with it seems to be even faster as you get confident in your moves and game plan.
I absolutely LOVE this game and my 3 dark horse characters? Bionic Commando,Chris and Arthur are no friggin joke when used right!
Kudos to desingers and programers for characters like Deadpool and Thor looking and sounding like they should!

On another note everyone is complaining about being cheap with the Sentinel..forget that for a sec...how much cheaper can the cpu or online players be with M.O.D.O.K?!!?...The constant Psionic Blast's and then thrusting up to the corner to kill time.
Now most times Deadpool's angled shooting or a diagonal Shield Blast will bring his big head tumbling down...but if you're left with say...Hagar or someone with limited projections...man...that can turn M.O.D.O.K into one cheap sonuvabitch!
I generally try to keep one guy in the team for such an occasion.
Right now I've been raking up the pts and unlocks with Akuma, Deadpool and Hulk. (going back and forth with Hulk and Hagar.)

they are going to do the same nonsense that they did w/ street fighter 4. nickel and dime you for more costumes. they had a few. iron patriot, classic thor, another cap outfit and a really crappy ryu w/ slippers (he has red slippers from way back in 1 of the early games).

Felicia is a cool character and DarkStalkers 2 was probably one of my favorite fighting games of all time.
Felicia and Morrigan or def cool characters but I would have LOVED if they included Damien. That guy is like the Ken/Ryu of Darkstalkers and never really got the love.

I hate the air combo system.Cheapest thing ever.Senitnel is the character i watch out for,i just know its going to be a cheap game then.This game is more about who hits first(to start their combos) and less about fighting.I miss MvC2.As far as DLC,bring back Gambit.I'll wait for the game of the year edition and get it for the same price as it is now and not end up paying for the countless DLC.

i got shuma. jill is crazy fast and a bit hard to use. shuma is cool and easier to pick up and play.

No Jill or Shuma for me yet but I gotta be close with my Dante, Hagar, Hulk team up...odd for me to put 2 big guys together like that but it's working out nice.
I love the Punisher Capt costume...and I thought the voices for most of the Marvel guys were great, except Capt's.
Whatever happened to the powerful sounding "On your feet soldier!"...Now when you tap in you get that "I need backup" and he sounds drunk and retarded!

charging star is one of the best moves in the game. really easy to pull off some low hits and turn it into the hyper charging star and pretty much make it unblockable once you connect with a low kick.

I'm still trying to work the kinks out with my Avengers lineup. Thor, Cap and IM. Thor is the most infuriating for me, as I can't seem to ever string moves together for him, and because he's my alltime favorite Marvel character. So I give him waaaay more leeway than I would have any other character. He would've been ditched a long time ago had he been, say, Haggar or Tron Bonne.
I alway use Cap to pull my ass out of the fire. He's a beast. IM I could use in my sleep, as I remember all of his stuff from way back in Marvel Superheroes. Am I the only one that remembers that?

I gotta be the only ass here that has sucked with IM since back in the Infinity Gems/Gauntlet game. I just absolutely blow with him.
Cap I find to be the most balanced. He's along the lines of Ryu for the Marvel side. Easy moves, easy to combine, good speed--works well for beginers or hardcore players.
I liked Thor in the begining but I agree he's a bit slow and just moves somewhat....clumsy.
Though I have success with Hagar and he's pretty slow too.

Just picked up the game and spent most of yesterday playing it. atm my pics are Wolverine, Felicia .. and some other random character depending on who I feel like playing. Ryu, Cap, Sentinel or Taskmaster, are among my usual pics tho.

I've been playing the crap out of MvC3, awesome game. My only gripe is the same gripe I had with MvC2; the air combos are cheap and do too much damage. I can do them pretty well, but I prefer winning old school style.
Still, I love this game.
