Got my Red Ninja Exclusive today. The boxes usually feature the both the previous and the next figure in the line, but this "Ranger" is clearly Stalker and not Beachhead. Dusty is the other preview.

The camo ruins the sweater, imo. I get that they probably wanted to differentiate it from BH's, but these guys are soldiers. They wear uniforms. The camo just looks BAD. The Jetpack would have been total win. I wouldn't have minded a plain OD sweater, and maybe an M65 Fishtail Parka from Issue #2, and a set of goggles. That way you could recreate the arctic adventure.

I think the sweater is okay...not terrific, but okay. I think folks expecting the JUMP, though, were kinda setting themselves up for disappointment. That's a huge chunk of plastic, and I think expecting Sideshow to toss it in for a few bucks in an exclusive is somewhat unrealistic.

That's not to say we won't see it down the line somewhere as a diorama piece, of course, but something like the JUMP I just think would have been too large and elaborate to be included as an exclusive.

I really don't think the old ECW Parka and sweater would have been too much to ask. If it came with the Parka, OD Sweater, and Goggles, I would've gladly paid an extra 10-15 bucks. However, 5 bucks for an ugly ass camo "accented" sweater is just silly.

How cool would it be to be able to do something along these lines as a 1:6 dio?

Stalker with dreads would have been an interesting Exclusive (I think hopes for a jet pack were wishful thinking), but I'm glad the default version is true to the original.

The pics are up on the Sideshow website of Stalker, he is a truly awesome figure. The exclusive extra is a green sweater/top. I think he looks much better in all camo though. Pre order is up tomorrow.

I really hate the way his head and neck look from the back, looks too cheapy dollish...The exclusives seem o be getting worse given all this guy has is a sweater and several of of beachheads accessories including gun and back pack lol, Dusty just gets a grenade lol...looking forward to the 86 viper I will get 2 of those so this saves me money on this one at least...can't wait for Dusty!

Had he come with the jet pack I would have bought one hands down even if it made him 199.99. I think that would have offset the reuse of just about everything he has being Beachheads...

Love the figure except for the head sculpt. Perhaps it's just the lighting, but I can't tell what race he is, other than his obvious darker skin tone. In other words, I think the sculptors totally miffled the african-american features, as he looks like a well-chiseled white guy with a really intense tan!

Admittedly it's tough to do races accurately if you're normally used to doing caucasian characters, but c'mon. There is quite a bit of reference for african-american features, so do a little more research next time. Otherwise, it's pretty neato.

I love these figures but it's the body types that keep me from buying them boxed. The Sideshow Prometheus is really a substandard body, IMHO, for current sixth scale production. A lot I've encountered are very loose and don't pose well IMHO.

I think the offerings though are becoming more and more interesting. Beachhead was great. Stalker looks good too. The Red Ninja has a ton of gear. I wasn't too happy with their Flint and Duke though, I felt the sets came too light on gear. Well my take on it.

I'm sure it's been stated in this thread, but it's worth repeating. Stalker's sweater is actually closer to the vintage top he wears than the BDU top the 12" figure comes with.

I'm not sure what the military name for this type of sweater (with the shoulder and elbow pads) is, but it's one of my favorite pieces of military clothing.

No one is questioning the fact that it's closer to his sweats from ARAH, or the fact that the sweater is a legit piece of gear. I'm sure everyone knows that. We're just saying the move to make the borders, and padding camo'd was kind of silly. It doesn't look remotely realistic at all. There's nothing wrong with giving him the camo'd look with the fatigue top, and the sweater as two seperate pieces. Trying to combine the two, no matter what pajamas the '82 figure was wearing, was were they kind of went astray. Atleast, IMO.

It's commonly known as a "Commando Sweater" made famous by the british commandos of WWII... the SAS and the Royal Marines wore them and still do. The USMC wears similar sweaters.

And yeah, I think the sweater's pretty awesome. I actually like the camo trim on it. L.L. Bean sells commando sweaters, and if they made one with camo trim, I would buy it.

He does remind me a little of Jamie Foxx, but it's the best face sculpt they've done so far... well, Duke wasn't bad. But Flint and Beach-Head's faces were pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, great details (except the berets) and great accesories, clothing, weapons, etc. I just don't like the head sculpts.

I'm sure everyone has an opinion of who we'll see after Hawk. I would really like to see 3 characters in particular:
1. Low-Light
2. Spirit
3. Torpedo (or Wet-Suit)

Now, I know that the above mentioned characters are all pretty popular, but there are a lot of popular character. The reason I'd like to see these is because they could all be updated tactically and look really cool (POC style, so to speak), but the most important thing is that they would be DIFFERENT than what they've put out already.

Let's have Low-Light in his grey coveralls and awesome sniper gear.

Let's have Spirit with some American Indian details and an awesome uniform.

Let's have a SEAL with a ton of gear for diving/Land operations.

Let's just have something different than what we've been getting. It's all been great, but it starting to feel a little monotonous.

Torpedo or Wet-Suit are possibilities, but I'm expecting Shipwreck to the hinted-at "marine environment" figure.

I don't expect Spirit anytime soon. Maybe if they expand the Desert Ops theme to include another Joe besides Dusty (Spirit's Southwest roots are more in keeping with that than the Jungle look of the TRU exclusive).

Low Light's possible for next year, but I think Shockwave is the frontrunner for an urban combat theme (hopefully against an Alley Viper).

We're overdue for a named Cobra figure, though. Zartan would fit the Jungle theme.
