I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet that the Dial Tone will just be a repainted version of the membership figure. I kinda doubt they'd make a whole new body when they already have a figure mold ready to go

The PP trooper has a Python Patrol logo on his arm the unreleased figure doesn't.

I'm glad they used the original head it fits better with the officer and I like it better.

Good catch, I hadn't noticed that. It could still be possible though since we don't know how far along production the figure at Joeintel is since he didn't come with the helmet or anything. but more than likely, the club isn't using any old stock. I think they only did that back in the old days anyway

That is one of the only figures that made it out of Hasbro/China a buddy of mine has it and I have seen it in hand and it's a finished figure it just didn't come with gear.

Having just broke the bank (and making a cool fodder trade) to build up a PP army (6 Vipers, 6 "Officers", 2 Peegies and a new Python Copperhead, I'm ready to order this set, and commit myself to Florida in March! If Relampago and Gatilho do turn out to be on-site exclusives, I'll be set with Python Patrol figures for life!

I just ignore that discrepancy, for vintage and modern. I consider the black outfit 'officer' as the trooper and the other one as the officer, in keeping with the blueshirt uniforms. As I kid, I had a couple of the black 'troopers' to one officer. And with modern, I bought multiple 'officers'/troopers, in the hopes that they'd make this guy, so I could just get one to be the officer. Depending on the rest of the set, I may bite on the whole thing. But if the rest of it doesn't blow me away, I'll be fine with picking up just one 'officer' and Tele-Viper.

Yeah, I would bet that they just photoshopped on the name after flipping the image. If you look at how the feet are placed, the pegs holding them appear to be in a mirror-imaged position along with the figure.

Me too. And I am not quite sure when that happened. At one point, Hasbro had them listed the other way:

Strange that the freehand-painted original seems to have a trooper head. Neither one looks like it has the rank on the helmet.

I am glad they went with this head. It will look better with the Python Officer imo. And after the Resolute Trooper came out, I had trouble seeing the DVD figure head as anything but Resolute.

I knew going into this that I wasn't a big fan of the PP figures (I DO like the vehicles, though) so these figures weren't going to be the deciding factor if I bought this set or not. It really will come down to how much is new on the Joe side - new heads, awesome paint jobs, and even better and creative frankenjoes.

The Club does this all the time. The first pic of the Dial-Tone subscription figure was completely photoshopped. They have the skills enough to flip the text on the stands.

But this figure wasn't seen in the ME, only the Trooper mold/PP Officer was seen, this is the Officer mold/PP Trooper. (I know, not much of a difference)

Besides, for a first release, this is pretty good. You want to build up excitement, not blow your load right from the start :)
