Okay.

So, I've finished the first act of my fan comic, stuck it up on my website & figured I'd share.

A couple caveats:

1) This focuses on the bad guys, mainly Cobra, and tries to have a little more depth & consistency to Cobra's structure than the need to advertise toys permitted the commercial run.

2) These are my interpretations of the characters. They aren't exactly the same as Mr. Hama's, nor especially the cartoon. Moreover, this is a fairly short snippet - not a lot of time to see who these people really are.

3) This is NOT SAFE FOR WORK. I freely admit it contains gratuitous nudity. If this was a Canadian movie, so far it would be rated 14A, which is comperable to a PG-13. The MPAA is frightened of nipples, though, so if it were a Yank movie it might be rated higher.

4) I wanted to show the various accents in play here, and opted for phonetic spellings for dialect. So far this only really affects Baroness & Destro; everyone else has a NorAm accent and their dialogue is spelt normally for Canadian English. Some people appreciate that, some really don't; but I wanted it said and out of the way.

So, all that being said, here's the link. I hope it appeals:

Well that was...neat yet disturbing, I enjoyed the art especially the helicopters in the hanger bay.
Yes, this side of the border it would be an R rating...not for the squeamish.
I do like how you play hard on their accents. nice touch.

Thanks. I read it and just see all the places where I screwed up the accent spelling; it's good to know it works for others.

Nice work!! Although not for everyone, I really appreciate the gritty adultness & the female nudity of your fan project... It's a nice change of pace, & I hope to see more.

I looked at it, and thought, "ugh, Poser/Daz 3d comic". But I was surprised. I want to see more. If you get over the initial shock of the more adult elements of it, it's very intriguing. Kind of like if Marvel MAX did a GI Joe book. Destro came off as downright creepy, and I like The Baroness and her relationship with the female troop. Good stuff.

I find the photoshop filter helps cut a lot that effect out; I really like the "ink drawing" look it creates.

Thanks, all, for your positive thoughts. This is just a hobby so it'll be a while before there's more - but I think I can safely promise that there will, eventually, be more.
