If/When they make some female Sideshow Joes and Cobra, would you want them to have "real" hair or sculpted hair??

I can't quite make the call. Check this out:

Sideshow Collectibles, Inc. - Black Widow / 12 inch Figure (http://affiliates.sideshowtoy.com/Tracker.aspx?aid=1800&href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sideshowtoy.com%2F%3Fpage_id %3D4489%26sku%3D900896)

If they can make it work like this, then I'm all for it. However, doll hair usually sucks and it can get messed up over time. Hard to say which would be better in the long run...

I'm having a hard time making the call as well. If it looks like that Black Widow...then hell yes!!!, but if not - then we might be better off getting it sculpted.

I would rather they make them with real hair, unless it's Lady Jaye.

Wait, isn't the Black Widow made by Hot Toys and not SideShow?

Yep, Black Widow is made by Hot Toys. I'm thinking we'll get sculpted hair. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I've seen both on Sideshow figures, and IMHO the sculpted hair looks FAR superior. The "real" hair always looks fake/thin.

Isn't Sideshow buddies with Hot Toys to some extent?
If Hot Toys could just produce the heads alone, well then....

I just hope the Sideshow heads when they make one are not gigantic, like with their Buffy figures in the past.

Real hair makes it look like a Barbie Doll. Sculpted works!

Good point.
Hot Toys should handle the ladies of the Joe Verse. Have you seen their Silk Specter or Jessica Biel from Blade?
Amazing.

i had to choose sculpted. The real-ish hair is cool and all but it frizze's out something terrible after a while. myabe offer two heads... one with real hair and one with sculpted?

God, I can't wait til my job ends and I can land my next one so I can catch up on these. I'm almost a grand behind. It sucks being responsible. :/

I vote for real hair, btw. If I ever waivered on that at all, the Widow figure put the nail in my coffin.

They should make that Black Widow in 1:1 scale. I'd totally buy one.

You can go to Realdolls and make your own.

I vote molded hair. There are quite a few pics of Black Widow online with jacked up frizzy, crispy hair. The Baroness and possibly Covergirl are the only ones with hair long enough to matter. The only reasons to have real hair are poseability with longer hair or the ability to change hairstyles.

I voted real hair. For what they charge I expect more. In fact the molded ski mask is the only reason I passed on their Beachhead figure. He looks fantastic except for the plastic mask. All I could think about was "all those detailed accessories and they couldn't do a cloth mask"? It cheapens the effort and makes it look unfinished.

While I agree in the case of Beachhead, especially since there is a company out there doing his exact balaclava and doing it well, I use the molded mask on my Cobra Officer. Not only does he look better next to CC, but the fabric they decided to use just doesn't look right, imo. It's a great idea, but they should have used something else. However, when reversed and rolled down, it works great as a turtleneck style dickie for the character.

The problem with cloth ski masks is they usually only look good on bald heads. Any type of sculpted hair will create unnatural lumps. SS should have used a less glossy paint application.

Sculpted for me, no question. Like a few smart cookies here have pointed out, the doll hair looks great when done right, but it always looks ten times better in prototype shots and fresh out the box than it does after a few fiddle-sessions.

These are high-end figures, so yeah we shouldn't be "playing" with them so much. But they're also hgh-end figures and for the price I'm paying, I want them to always look as good as the day I purchased them.
