View Full Version : G.I. Joe on DVD

Anyone hear anything about when these might be produced/released again?

I know Sony bought the rights but as far as I know, they haven't done anything with it.

It's frustrating to walk down the dvd aisle and see everything from He-Man to Battle Star Galactica and no G.I. Joe! :(

I refuse to buy the ones that are out now. They are going for far too much on the secondary market...and its the only first couple of seasons....

As far as I can recollect, Sony is or was in some sort of contract/rights dispute with D.I.C., so there's no telling when we'll see 'em!

And I hear you, I have Season 1, Part 2.........and couldn't snag any of the others before they were pulled........so I'm a jonesin' for them myself!!!

I want to see the GI Movie come out on DVD at least. Transformers: the movie has been out.

You can get the Joe series DVDs on Netflix if you just want to watch. Man those were so much better when I was a kid.

G.I. Joe the movie is out on DVD. I own it.

...although like the series, I don't believe it's being produced any longer. I could be wrong though.

Check out ebay Item number: 150149150000. The movie doesnt go for too much but the series dvd can get insane. (example item # 220136923499)

For those interested, I have all the DVDs sans the movie and the DIC series. However, that being said, I no longer have a DVD burner. If you need a copy/copies, please post here and I will ask a good friend if he would be willing/able to burn copies.

I will say this up front though: It won't be free. You'd be responsible for the cost of the blank dvd(s) and postage...that is, IF he's willing to do it ;)

I'd like the GI Movie if possible. You can't get it on Netflix, which was why I said it wasn't available. Netflix is god to me. :D

I will send money for a copy if possible.

Well, I don't think he has the movie...and I surely don't either. I have:

Miniseries 1: Real American Hero
Miniseries 2: Revenge of Cobra

Season 1, Part 1
Season 1, Part 2
Season 2, Part 1

I know he has the same ones (I got mine from him :D) so that would be what is available.

I'll be in touch with him shortly. I'll tell him to post his response as he's a member here ;)

Alright everyone, for those that are interested, here's what I've received so far:

Sure...I'll get the originals off my nephew and burn them. Probably won't get to it till this weekend...if I'm lucky.

just have them post it in the thread (their wants)

Cost wise:
DVD 2.00, Plastic Case 1.00, Labor: 2.00...so $5 bucks per dvd before shipping.

As for the shipping...I am gonna have to go with them being boxed up. You know how I feel about USPS...I don't trust the fu****s. Depending on how many DVDs are wanted, shipping is going to be $6.90 & Up (that's for priority with insurance & tracking/free box, 1 lb). Anything heavier will of course cost more.

So....post your wants here!

Super Secret Squirrel will review this post and advise accordingly.

C.I.A.D.

CB, each DVD, if I recall correctly, has something like 12 episodes. I think there's 3 - 4 DVDs per series (i.e. - series 1, pt 1).

I'll get a better # for youw hen I get home from work later on :D

I have means to copy them (I have all 155 Episodes on DVD, and would happily make a fellow fan happy)
Sorry guys I only have for season 3 the Operation Dragonfire Episodes, but I have all of the original sunbow episodes including the movie. if you simply want them as avi it will take less discs, but if you want full blown DVDs I have that as well.

Wow TK, that's top shelf of you! Question though: How much are you asking for the DVDs?

I ask this because I don't want to tell "Super Secret Squirrel" to start making Scarlett's discs along with Tin's movie if you're going to do it...so let me know, paesan ;)

Sorry for the delay of covers. My wife and I are in the process of buying a house. We put a bid in for one yesterday and today we'll find out if we got it or not.

Anyway, here's the cover I came up with for "A Real American Hero" mini series. I'm going to be working on "Revenge of Cobra" today since I have the day off.

I should have some of the high quality covers ready to download by the end of this weekend. I'll give you all the link when they're set.

I can make copies of the Sunbow episodes too.

I have all the DVDs, the movie, the mini-series and even the second season episodes that Rhino didn't release. (Of course a few of them are old school video taped episodes.) But they aren't bad. Nothing fancy like custom artwork, just the disks and paper envelopes.

I also have them all in video iPod format (MP4) if you want to upload them to your iPod. (13 gigs of info!!)

Let me know... each disk will be $4. 16 disks total.

Xerofall

I can also make anyone a copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special. Don't be fooled by all the glitz and fancy packaging on the ones from eBay. Some claim to be remastered in THX, that's not true. Some are in fancy packaging, but you'll pay more for those. I've seen some go as high as $50 and most go for around $30.

They are all the same copy from some dude's TV back in 1978.

My copy has the show broken down into chapters, I also added a huge photo library of rare production and seldom before seen photos and artwork from the show.

I'll make you a copy for $9 plus shipping.

Well since we are on the subject of DVDs
I would love season 2 that Rhino never released...jerks
I don't remember any of the DIC episodes, but having those would awesome too.
Also I have the entire Marvel run of GI Joe comics on disk. 155 issues which if anyone is interested I will do for free as time permits.

I hate to be a party pooper, but can't you get into trouble for this?

And yes, I said pooper.

I hate Sony. They've sat on re-releasing the Transformers series even though it would have been PERFECT to release them when the movie just came out on DVD. I wouldn't hold your breath for a re release of the Joe series...

I'm just about done designing covers for all of the DVDs. My fall video gigs have finished up so I now have some time to complete them. I have to finish Season 1 part 2 and Season 2 part 1. I'm a little stumped as to how I'm going to tackle the Operation Dragonfire, but that will come as well. The covers have been designed to fit regular DVD case sizes. If you need 3 disc dvd cases I would recommend genesysdtp.com, that's where I get my cases.

These don't have any G.I.Joe characters in them do they?

If Sony releases the Joe series again, I hope they release it in the same format as the Rhino ones. I have all the Rhino ones and I hope when Sony releases season 2, they cut the episodes the same way that Rhino did it so I don't have to get the whole thing again.

It's been kind of a mixed bag with shipping?

The 1st item I ordered was on a saturday morning and it arrived 2 days later! The second 2 items I ordered at the same time and they giot here in about 6 days. The 4th item took about 5 days. They're always well packed and in good looking cases. The only one that I was super thrilled with the quality was the Fantastic Four Movie from 1994. It was very grainy and dark but I think that was more an issue with the film itself. Plus, that film was never released officially on any medium so it's probably been re-recorded several times.
Regardless of that the movie is a glorious trainwreck so it doesn't really matter anyway! LOL
