Anyword on when the %@*$ Gran Turismo 5 is being released? Game keeps getting pushed back and it's getting very frustrating. Wasn't this game suppose to be out over a year ago?

Well, the "Official" date is November 24th, but Ill believe it when I see it (headed to the "Big City" today for a week, so Ill be looking). Ive been waiting for this game for like a year and a half, so who the hell knows. Its had so many release dates it isnt even funny. Last time I checked was like a week ago and it said it had been pushed back to "Officially" December 31st, so again, Ill believe the 24th when I see it. Either way, its going to be SOOOOOOOON!!!!!! Then Ill have to buy a new goddamn wheel. Another junk of cash down the drain on stupid video games. But, I knew it was coming, I bought my PS3 exactly 2 years ago just FOR GT5. Been a LOOOOOOOONG 2 years!!!!!

Screw Grand Turismo. When they started going for unlockables you had to pay for I was out of there.

I played GT1, GT2 & GT3 all without a wheel. LOL. I'm not even sure I could make a lap without the PS controller... I'm so used to it. LOL. But Activision's Nascar: The Game 2011 is coming out, so maybe I have to buy a wheel. I still play Nascar Racing 2003 Season for the PC and I've always used a PC Wheel for that game.

LOL. I bought my PS3 for the sole reason of playing FF13, but getting to finally play GT5 will be a bonus (especially since it has cup cars).

I was REALLY disappointed when I heard Indy cars were not in this game; since it would have been AWESOME to simulate the 500. But if they do end up making Indy cars as pay4 DLC... I will go insane I think. LOL.

Looks like Gran Turismo 5 is getting underwhelming reviews all around. So sad. They say the environment graphics look dated and the cockpit effects not so good.

Yeah, all reviews I've read weren't that great. I guess for now I'll get the new Need For Speed and probably get GT5 when it's under $30.oo

I don't really care for games like Need For Speed or Burn Out... I am definitely a Gran Turismo kind of guy. I love the grind... Gran Turismo is the only racing game that I felt a sense of accomplishment from when I learned how to drive a certain corner with a certain type of car just to get a dumb license. LOL.
However... I going wait until it is around $30 too before I buy it. LOL. I know a lot of people are going to buy it, hate it and sell it back though, so maybe I can get a used one for $35 at my local video game shop soon.

I'm just happy we get cockpit view this time around... even if it is only for 200 cars. I started racing in cockpit view when I got the PC game GTR2... and I don't think I could go back to racing without it. When I get GT5 I will probably only try to ever use the premium cars to race if I can.

Well, Ive been away for Thanksgiving and picked it up. Ive NEVER regretted buying a GT game, and I dont this either.
Its not the best (I think 3 was the best for various reasons) but I love it. The graphics COULD be better, but Im not complaining. I absolutely HATE how complex the "home" screen is (3 was the best) especially since I was just getting used to GT5 Prologue, but Ive only got a couple hours on it so far.
Its one of those things where youre either a fan or youre not. I AM, so I love it. I CAN NOT play it with the controller, so Ill need to pick up a wheel after Christmas (hopefully theyll be on sale somewhere). The gameplay should be awesome, even better than 4 which was AMAZING, and thats what counts here. You dont love GTA for the graphics, you love it for the gameplay. This is the same.
So far, Im loving it.

I like GT3 best too... got like 92.3% completion on that one I think. I think I like that one the best just because the graphics were so good compared to the PS1 GTs and I had more free time to play that one. LOL.
Never had a PS Wheel though... I guess the official GT4 PS2 Wheel would be the best one probably.
And I am really interested to see how the cup cars handle; especially at Daytona. I wonder how many other cup cars you compete against. I've never played any Nascar game before that had even decent restrictor plate physics. And I can't believe GT5 got rid of Infineon Raceway; that would have been perfect for a race using cup cars.

I think GT3 was my favorite for the same reason: We went from having crap to something that was AMAZING! It was mind-bending at the time. It was just so realistic. I absolutely loved 4 though: The cars, the tracks, etc., but I really hated the home page and the way it was set up. Same with Prologue and now 5: Cant they get the goddamn home page right, and backing out of tracks, etc.?! Youd think these "professionals" could make a game that was user-friendly, right!? I want to meet the testers who said "Yeah, this is a great set-up and it works really smooth" and punch them in the throat. Navigation could be MUCH better.
I have a game on....PS1 maybe, that was called "Dirt to Daytona" that I loved. I thought it was very realistic compared to driving an actual stock-car (which I have, many times and many different kinds). NASCAR games in general bore me, so Ive only played that one and dont have any other to compare. I havent played any NASCAR stuff on GT5, Im in the process of license tests (which I always do first) and havent done much else.
The wheel: Ive been using a wheel since PS1 and Im so used to using the cockpit view with the wheel its the only way I can drive. The controller has too little control (instead of a whole wheel to hold steady, I have a little stick) and gas/brake is hard to do consistent & evenly with a little tiny button.
Anyway.....

I just love video game Nascar racing at Daytona and Talladega (and Infineon), but every game has sucky restrictor plate physics. I just want a Nascar game that at Daytona or Dega in which you can actually pass on the outside with two cars bump drafting with each other.

I heard that the license tests for GT5 is optional or something like that... trying to cater to the casual fan this time around. Kind of sucks if true. The license test for 1,2, & 3 were death... especially the perfect lap ones in 3... those drove me insane. LOL. GT4 had the easiest license tests IMO.

Played it some more last night and cleaned house in the beginner level fairly quickly. REALLY fun game, and the driving "feel" is awesome. I am a little bummed, its definitely not as good as it could have been, but you gotta think thats expected: After all, theyve been working on it for 5 years, right, so there is no way theyre going to get it right, they were just cramming in as much as possible. Give me 300 cars and 50 tracks, make it AMAZING, and it would have been better. But honestly, Im not complaining one bit. The gameplay on it is AMAZING!!!!!

You know, the game is really good, but I dont like it as much as 3 & 4. With that said, Ive doing playing the rally yesterday and today (my sons favorite) and totally dominating. I just beat the Alaskan Rally by an overall time of 1:38.348. In 2 of the 5 stages I passed all of the other cars, and in 2 of the stages I passed 2 of the 3 and if I had of had another 100 yards I could have got the lead car too. First stage I only passed the rear car. WICKED ADDICTIVE!

Just won the Gran Turismo Snow Master even in 2:38.358 over second place. LOVE the rally events, especially on snow! $196,000 & 14780 in experience. NICE!

Congratulations. LOL. In GT3 the Rally events were kinda weak IMO. So it sounds nice that it seems more fun in GT5 this time around... especially in the snow parts.
Did you race the Cup cars at Daytona yet?
man i loved the OG Gran Turismo

No, I havent. What I like to do is run through the license tests and ace them all first thing (which I did through the first 3, and Ive completed all but the last 2). Ive cleaned out the first 3 levels of A-Spec, and started doing some of the special events because Im only at like level 21. I just opened the NASCAR events, but I dont have a car and Im saving up for an F1 or PP car, something like that, to race the bigger, better paying races. This is one thing I HATE about GT5: When you win the Ferrari race, they give you a Ferrari, thats usually worse than the one you purchased. Same with the Lambo level. They should give you prize cars that you can use on UPCOMING levels, not ones youve completed. Friggin stupid.
Im a Rally junkie hard core. Ive been talking about building one and running it for the last 8 years. Maybe when my boy (who will be 3 in a week) is a few years older. We go to the Rally Races every year up here and every time I get more and more into it. Love watching them on HDNet. Wish it was bigger here and had more exposure. I especially like the snow events since I live in an area where we drive in snow for 6 months a year.

For its time Gran Turismo 2 was awesome, but didn't have too many racing games back then except GT & Ridge Racer I think. Now there is so much competition like Grid, GTR, Burnout, Need for Speed, Test Driving Unlimited & Forza to name a few.

Doesn't Dirt 2 have the best rally racing physics in a game? I cannot handle rally racing physics in any game... you are so loose through the center of the turn I always end up over-steering. LOL. I am more of a F1 guy... I love powerful braking and insane grip levels. LOL. My fav part about video game racing is trying to figure out braking points and when to accelerate out of a turn.

Panasonic 3DO, MAN I loved that thing. I thought for sure it was the "new" take-over system. I had one and a bunch of games on it. When PS came out I got that and my friends made fun of me because they said it was going to die too. They didnt laugh at Road Rash and Resident Evil. We played those guys FOREVER!
melikejinx: F1 is cool, but only on street courses. I really like road course racing and especially Rally since I grew up in Maine and we did a lot of hunting and fishing, so I grew up driving on a lot of dirt logging roads. Still do to this day. You ever see American Loggers on the Discovery Channel? Thats where I live and drive daily. They actually showed my house on an episode. lol
I really like the GT/PP racing too. I watch a lot of it when its on and Id love to try that. I grew up in a racing family and we raced stock cars on dirt and paved ovals. Always liked getting a car sideways around a corner. Its more of an adrenaline rush for me. 100mph or more through a skinny, dirt, woods-road is WAY better than any pavement racing. Just so many more variables and I really like that. But Ive ridden snowmobiles and dirtbikes my whole life too, so it could be why I like Rally so much more.

i loved it too, the games were bad ass. I think the thing cost $600-$700 brand new or something like that. I remember throwing the controller while playing "out of this world" god i hated that game
