I actually prefer the image from August as the proportions seem to be more accurate on that one. Nonetheless, I do like the atmospheric feel of the new image.

Also, yes I agree, the line will surprise people at Toy Fair, the Owl especially.

I hope there'll be a troop pod option, if not included then at least down the road. No sense in the boys ridin' in a big crate.

I'm all about the helicopters. I can see myself getting this if it's compatible with the ME/PoC type figures.

Although I think the o-ring molds are a huge mistake, most of the vehicles rendering look to be better than what Hasbro has put out since the 25th hit the shelves.

BTW... Anybody notice the Owl resembles the common Cobra helicopter from the Marvel Series? Most noticably, Issue #56.

Count me in. Everything about SK Omega looks good so far. Of course until i see the actual toys it is hard to say. Honestly though the proportions are going to be the same as normal Joes, so what's the problem with O-Rings? I never had any problem with my old Joes so just wondering........

Now if SK Omega has lots of good vehicles that would be great. One of the things that is missign from Joes right now is the lack of good vehicles like the old days.

I love the hint of the TTBP type thing and the Aircraft Carrier in the background.

Personally,

I'd agree in the past, vintage were great for the time. Now these have been eclipsed by the modern style. I no longer collect O-ring figures, and I suspect that others stopped as well.

I also agree with your second paragraph, as I do still collect vintage vehicles, and this helicopter could fit right in. I need a good helo.

So huge in fact that there is an entire market that only collects vintage/o-ring style figures that is dieing to get their hands on this stuff. That market is bigger than people realize. I think its pure win for everybody (if the vehicles work well with 25/ME/POC).

The Modern fans are just more vocal, when it comes to sheer numbers, I think the o-ring fans are more prevalent, especially when it comes to pre-pro stuff. Also, I don't think the o-ring style was truly surpassed until the later waves of the 25th line. It took a while for the 25th figures to match the range of motion that the o-ring figures had. For example, the 1st Scarlett, Baroness, and Duke figures had trouble sitting, and the "Duke-arm" could not bend close to 90 degrees. By the later waves, most of this stuff was rectified.

It's still just a drawing, as far as I am concerned. Looks cool, but this shit better be awesome at Toyfare, or I personally reserve the right to give everyone shit about it.

Grackle looks a lot like the new Cobra jet in Renegades...

The Grackle is VERY different from the Cobra jet in Renegades. Looks more like a Flanker than that Cobra jet. More differences will be evident as well, more than we can currently see.

I've been hearing the term "flanker" for awhile in reference to jets, but maybe you can clear up the definition for the non-initiated. I've looked up several definitions, some military, but none specifically relating to a jet.

T-10(SU-27 in the western world), frontline air superiority fighter for the Russian Air Force. Basically Russia's answer to the F-15, and superior in manueverability(winner of the fight will depend on skill of pilot and situational awareness....in which case the F-15 pilot will have higher SA due to easier to use avionics). Many variants over the years, the most advanced export one is the SU-30MKI fielded by the Indian Air Force, has western avionics and RIDICULOUS manueverability. Best of both worlds in a way. Most advanced overall is the newer T-10BM/SU-35(not to be confused with the earlier one from the 90's...it's confusing), with advanced avionics, redesigned LERX's and thrust vectoring in lieu of canards which added weight.

If you compare the Renegades Cobra jet, the Cobra jet looks more like the plane from MASK that that one evil general dude flew, with more rounded surfaces. The Grackle has more similarities with the Flanker, with the addition of a central vertical stabilizer, wider front section, and other undocumented features which aren't exactly visible to the naked eye.

I just don't really think it is a o-ring vs modern era argument. To me it's a sculpting argument. If the figures are sculpted like it's 1982, then I have no desire for them, but the sculpting can surpass modern era and still be o-ring. If they are well articulated and look cool then I think people with buy them. If they look like crap and are o-ring, I don't see people going crazy for them.

some excellent sculpting might convince me to pick sum up, but i personally think ME articulation like POC and newer SW figs make o-rings obsolete.

that owl is FNG so awesome. caint wait to get that.
