This is my first Sideshow figure. My first 1:6th figure at that.

I had to get Flint. He's my favorite Joe. I have Beachhead, another top Joe, on preorder. If they had made a Hit & Run or Airborne I would have jumped at those as well.

So what did I think?

Pass.

I don't think the 1:6th line of figures is for me.

It's cool and all, and maybe Beachhead will turn out better, but there just wasn't anything that really impressed me for the price.

The shotgun shell bandolier DROVE ME NUTS!! I hate the way it sits, I hate the way the shell strap moves up and down. It shouldn't have been made as a sliding piece. That really annoys me.

I don't mind the head sculpt except the lips. It looks like he has dark lipstick on. Really annoys me.

The detailing is nice. I like how the sight and grip on the shotgun can slide. The one that resembles the figures feels cheap. I didn't even bother taking the cartoon gun out. Those don't exist in my Joeverse.

He comes with alot of stuff, I guess. I just wish there was a place for the grenades.

The extra clips are cool. Sucks that can't slide one in and out of the pistol. That could be a cool pose, shotgun hanging by it's strap as he's reloading the pistol.

I do like that you can switch the canteens for the smoke bomb holders. So could have 2 canteens, 2 smoke bombs or 1 of each.

I don't like the plastic beret, just doesn't feel "right" putting the cap on. It does look good sitting on his head though.

So yeah, I wasn't that impressed with it.

It took me so long, and frustrated me so much, to get the bandolier loaded up and in a good position, that I didn't even want to try posing him. Just put him on the stand and put him on the shelf.

I think I'll stick with the 1:18th figures. My first foray into the world of the 1:6th just didn't work out for me. It's not that I'm totally disappointed in the figure, it's just that it didn't live up to what I was expecting.

Also, a little bit of copy reading would have gone a long way. Couple real major spelling errors on the card.

I'm really sorry to hear he didn't hit all the right notes for you. 1:6 scaled figures are completely different from 1:18 in many ways. I first got into this size with the early Sideshow Star Wars figures. I loved them, but there are times when the cloth, or the accessory just doesn't sit right.

I am currently trying to get into the Joe line. Flint is on my short list of NEED TO HAVE figures. I hope to find one (preferably the exclusive version) for myself that doesn't cost $150.

I am not fond of this figure at all. Decent enough review though. The head kills it totally for me. Hes subpar compared to the other Sideshow figures of this line. Him and Duke are on the bottom of my list and I will probabley never pull the trigger on either. Beachhead and Dusty are going to be my first joes from the line up...they are stellar (well the masked Beachehad that is lol, thats another fulgy mofo without the balacava, but teh dusty head with the dusty helmet is spot on)

This is what bothers me. The typos tell me they don't really even care.

Those are just the ones I noticed. I didn't read everything fully.

I agree with the whole bandoleer thing; very frustrating indeed. Overall the figure was okay. Much better than the Firefly if you ask me but not as good as Duke.

Ive been buying these things since Luke Jedi came out and you do have hit and misses. Sorry this one was a miss for you. I think the Dusty will hit a home run for sure and he will be mine tonight.

On a side note. You think those shot gun shells were a beast? You should have tried putting all the gear on Snake Eyes. Now that sucked three shades of hell.

I don't like the head sculpt, and I was excited when I first heard he was coming out. The same with Duke, although his is a bit better.

Yeah, maybe not the greatest one Sideshow's done. Should have started out with Snake Eyes - that would have sold you on the entire line!

I've got Flint but won't be able to have him in hand for a while... I've seen some pics - mainly without the beret - that are a bit disappointing and some where he still looks awesome. I know a lot of people had a problem with Duke but I loved that figure - I have a feeling when I finally get Flint in hand I'll love that one too. It's just about getting the right pose...

That's why I'd like to buy an opened Snake Eyes. That way he's already been put together by someone with (hopefully) more skill than I have.

Flint is by far my favorite Joe but I'm not picking this one up... The head sculpt just doesn't look right to me. It's not Flint. Maybe I'm too picky but this is a pass for me.

I think once you get passed the fact that none of the Joe's faces are going to look like any of the Sunbow cartoon portraits, the faces aren't actually all that bad.

I was really against Duke and Flint's portraits before buying them but after actually owning them, I have a newfound appreciation for these two figures.

Thats not really the issue for me as I never cared for the comic protrayel of duke/flint's face to begin with. These to sideshow figures just look..weird.. all around...especially where the head meets the neck ball...nice thing with Dusty is his helmet hides that fugly neck area...also the Flint head on the Zartan/Flint statue is superior to this head..I dunno if thats a result of the statue deisgn/material but given todays 3d scanning and scuplting techniques they should have used that head vs. this one imop.

Hey to each his own. I'm happy with my figs.

I do agree the Flint head on the Zartan/Flint status is superior, but it doesn't detract my appreciation for the 1/6 version either.

I have no problem with the head sculpt, it's the damn lipstick I have an issue with.

My flex payment for Beachhead went through so it looks like I'll have him as well and hopefully he'll measure up.

Now I just have to resist the urge to pull the trigger on Dusty as he does look damn cool.

Flint was a super let-down, but to say he was better than Firefly is nuts.

On mine, the stitching on one side of the bandolier went a little close to the last shotgun shell loop, it took me the better part of a half-hour to wedge the shell in there. It was either that or have a lop-sided count to the shells in the bandolier.

But yeah, Snake Eyes was a pain as well.

Question: which character is making the comment on the bottom of flint's filecard? I'm thinking if it's Gung-ho, maybe they were trying to phonetically emphasize his accent.

I thought he was pretty cool. I was frustrated with the bandoleers and did not get all the shells to fit.
If you notice the ammo pouches have elastic wrapped around them - the grenades fit pretty well there. I put the smokes in the ammo pouches and left the canteens on his hips.
I wish he had a pack with him so I could put the spare hands in it like I did with Duke and FF.
Agreed with an earlier poster, SE is the standard to judge by and his gear took forever to assemble.

Thanks for the review Troynos ... now I can rest easy about collecting (or not collecting in my case) these SS figures. Too pricey for me.

It's that damn plastic beret... it just looks too out of place, especially when all his other clothing items are soft goods. Makes it look like a $30 Hasbro 12" figure (http://www.yojoe.com/12inch/03/images/flint.shtml) instead of something that sells for over 120 bones.

Just looking at the pics from SS, I was thoroughly disappointed with Flint. They definitely dropped the ball. I remember SS said would do the cartoon version of Flint then changed to comic/figure version. I was a little disappointed with that announcement.

Regardless, everything about this figure doesnt screwm Flint to me. This would have been my first figure from SS but I just couldnt bring myself to buy it. Epic fail in my opinion. I feel this Flint figure was given the justice it deserves. I wonder if the upcoming Dusty is given the cloth beret...

Is that shotgun only available with the Exclusive version?

I have to say that the figure looks pretty damned good to me. If I could find an exclusive version at a good price I'd jump on it. Any of you that hate this figure are welcome to sell him to me. :)

Sorry the 1/6 world didn't work out for you. I would not chalk this up as a loss. Flint is a great character but his 1/6 figure is not the best of the lot. I think Firefly was much better than Flint. He was actually my first 1/6 figure and was my gateway drug to Hot Toys and the rest of the Joes/Cobras.
