why is it that Sideshow cannot match the detail and quality of Hot Toys portraits??? I just looked at the "Expendables" Sly Stallone figure and the face is mind-blowing, nevermind the other details like body and definition. I just say this because it seems that the new Flint's head sculpt is bad.

i totally agree - the charlie sheen platoon figure , when i saw his face i was like wow why cant SS do something as good as this ? their face sculpts are pretty poor and look to fake n rubbery for final product. flints face - HUGE fail, if duke n flint had the hot toys sculpt they would look 100x better

difference mmm about $100
they fixed stallone's roid face
the thing Hasbro ran into with those whiplash toys
My real complaint would be why can't Hasbro do things that good much larger company with lots more money to throw around.
AND they own G.I.JOE !
seems kind of shameful that another company is turning out things this good

No doubt Hot Toys is far superior in sculpting, hence the prices we are paying for. But one thing bad about them is the inconsistent release of figures.
They can do like for example Batman The Dark Knight. There is Batman, Joker and Two Face, what about Commissioner Gordan, Alfred and more?
There might be some good points in a certain company but they sure have something that's amiss sometimes.

Hasbro is not in the business of marketing to super high end collectors that want $200 figures. They market and produce boys toys for children who PLAY with them. So it will never happen to see them invest in R&D to churn out super high end fragile $179.99 1/6 figures unlike Hot Toys does. That's like asking why can't McDonald's start selling high end $30 fillet mignon meals because they obviously have the money to throw around.
Sideshow on the other hand really needs to get with the program and either hire more skillful sculptors or learn how to 3D scan some portraits onto their 1/6 figures. Because yes, their portrait quality is not even close to Hot Toys yet, and they have been around longer and should have the resources to do it.

all good points and arguments. I hope someone over there reds this and takes it all into consideration. This is not bashing, but true constructive criticism from fans of the line.

Cheaper sculptors = cheaper prices? I wonder if this is true haha.

Somehow the first few releases were great, noticed how Cobra Commander, Troopers and Officers all have painted portraits? They dropped it since Storm Shadow and prices are still increasing. A very weird move by Sideshow though.

The skin tone on portraits is too clean looking on Duke & Flint, etc. Sideshow needs to incorporate the skin blemishes that real people have like Hot Toys does. You can see craters and facial roughness on Hot Toys portraits. Sideshow needs to add this to their figures.

What about Mattel? They make Items just for collectors MOTU, Ghost busters, 1/6 DC heroes and Barbie figures. I know its not the same as say Soldier Story or D.I.D but the point is if Mattel can do it so can Hasbro.

sideshow canīt make better sculpts than hot toys , ....the reason?
the sculptors.. , hot toys sculptors are better than sideshows , besides , side show , should have adopted the same techniques , plastics and soft goods for clothing , long ago, but as a company , they still need to learn a lot of things...
