Well after a lot of greenstuff I think it's coming around. But before I finish off the sculpting, I wanted to get some opinions....most importantly on the left kneepad since I'm trying to get them as close to the comic as possible.

Well it's going to be Ben Santini from Stormwatch Team Achilles, but at this point, he could be one of 4-5 members of his team since they all dress similarly. I just put that head on to fill the space until I can find one that works.

it certainly looks liek a lot of skill and tiem was put into it, despite not knowing what it's supossed to refernce. perhaps posting pictures of the reference characters would make these type of customs much easier to admire and appreciate. to me it looks awsome as is but i have no idea who storwatch is.

I think you got it spot on or at least REALLY really close. Great job!

Now this pic is a cover, but the cover artist slimmed down the gear a bit in comparison to the interior art but he basically nailed the look.

Explanation of the book from wikipedia:
"Stormwatch: Team Achilles differed from the previous super-hero-centric Stormwatch groups in that it centered on a team consisting mostly of 'normal' human beings from various global Special Forces/Counter-Terrorist organizations acting as a small UN troubleshooting team. The stated mission of Team Achilles was to kill or capture criminal superhumans....

....Some fans have happily called Team Achilles "G.I. Joe for Grownups" and noted comics writer Kurt Busiek wrote "it's like Sgt. Rock, but with Superheroes." Although the enemies in the comic book have been the typical fantastic archetypes seen in comics, the weapons used by the Stormwatch team were mostly real-world weapons systems (such as the Barrett M82A1). Realistic weapons as well as tactics are used by the non-powered Team Achilles members to take down the physically superior enemies seen in the comic...."

That's a lot of green stuff. How do you work with it. I apply it spread it with my hands and use water to smooth it. I have a bunch of sculpting tools but the green stuff is just so sticky. Your work looks great. Keep it up.

Well for one I keep a jar of vaseline nearby for the tools, it makes them less sticky but I still run into a problem with it sticking and pulling pieces with it. Some actually mix vaseline into the green stuff after the green stuff is mixed but I find this to be a catch 22. I've learn ways to get it close to what I want and then letting it dry and sculpt with cutters and cheap sanding sticks you can find at hobby stores.. I work with a variety of sanding sticks of a medium to super fine grit to better shape it after it dries. The rougher the stick the more it will take off but the more texture it leaves behind so that's why I'll use a super fine grit.

The kneepad pattern needs some fine tuning but whenever I have leftover green stuff, I roll it out into flat sheets on something with a slick surface, like the backside of packing tape. When it dries I'll cut out the patterns I need (I can even draw the patterns directly on) and glue them on.

I used Aly's Agent head; the second shot is just to show the Stormwatch sword patch.

Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks with us Guppy. I'm working on a Cable out of a SHS Colossus. It's my first heavy greenstuff mod. I'll share some pics soon.

That came out looking great! I've been feeling really intimidated by the whole sculpting process. You've made it look easy.

Green stuff is frustrating at first if you're use to other mediums but it almost never cracks and bonds really nice. All of which makes it really easy to use after it's dried. The one thing I will recommend is taping up any small cuts or use gloves because the stuff will sting.
