2011: Airport near St. Louis, MO
Lt. Major Conrad S. Hauser picks up a paper froom his backpack. On it, his officaly story: Held at a P.O.W. camp in Afganistan for 3 years. Yeah right. The truth is, he was the field commander of CTU Alpha. Sometimes it was called everything from "The unit" to "G.I. Joe". Thing is, that's what the President, his cabnet, and some international leaders called it. No one outside those few knew about "G.I. Joe". But most people knew about "Cobra", al-Queda's best friend. The war between Alpha and Cobra was over.
Conrad left the airport an hour ago. Outside, many just waved. He wore a US Army shirt, and had the scars to prove it. A man walks over.
"Name's Alex. Alex Mann. You just get back?"
"Prisoner of war."
Alex's voice goes to a whisper.
"I served with your unit."
"My unit? What do-"
"When Flint and Helix were held captive in Germany. The British action force helped your Gamma and Delta teams."
As Conrad walked away, Alex had one more word to say.
"Why didin't you stay, Duke?!"
Conrad turns his head.
"Because the war is over. No one did."
