It's official. Rowdy Roddy Piper of WWF/WWE fame is set to be an exclusive at this year's convention.
"For 25 years, the G.I.Joe team has gone into battle with Sgt. Slaughter at their side to pummel Cobra forces in to full retreat. Now Cobra is fighting back with a wrestling legend who can combat the sergeant with equal strength and skill - "ROWDY" Roddy Piper!
Cobra has added this infamous fighter to it's ranks to even the score on the battlefield and take the battle to a whole new level! Wearing his classic wrestling gear, Rowdy Roddy Piper is ready to let loose his infamous rage and piledrive his G.I.Joe nemesis!"
Master Collector has begun to unveil the card art for the figure in the same way they did the box set cover art, in a puzzle style format.

*Pictures to be added very soon. I'm at work and do not have access to my photos. D'oh!

What I find interesting is that this figure is being released....a bit late IMO. Piper, although an awesome character and one of my all time favorite wrestlers is...to put it nicely...a bit past his prime.
Plus, making him a Cobra character is a bit far fetched. Why not someone like the Iron Shiek, or Volkoff...
Of equal interest is the fact that Piper's filecard seems to state that he's part of Destro's clan....
Anyways, I'm sure that fans will be all over the figure..and it will be nice to have someone to fight the Sarge :)

What style do you think it will be in?
The 2006 style or the new 25th Annv. style?
I'm guessing the 2006.
Thoughts?

Why would HTS even offer the figure? If anything, it'd be offered in the Joe Club store if there are any leftovers...which I'm hoping for.

HTS is short for Hasbro Toy Shop (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com)
Hasbro has been known to offer "exclusive" figures through their site. However, as already mentioned, I could see Piper being offered through Master Collector's page before Hasbros.
Oh, and Amaro, I think this figure will be in 25th style fashion, to match the other current releases

I would of loved this figure....20 years ago. Someone to battle the Sarge.
I'll still try to obtain one via the club store...and am eager to see it done.

so is there an advantage, to let's say the Piper figure, for joining that club. is it that they will sell them before others?? have them exclusive to after the Joe-Con?? etc...
any help clearing that up for me, would be greatly appreciated.

Cool. I always liked Piper. The file card art is nice. Too bad it is a convention exclusive and probably more than I want to pay for it. That and there are just so many Transformers and 25th Anniversary figures coming out in September.

iF the "TANKS FOR THE MEMORIES" set is for the "25th", why is the articulation that of the old line???
is that the RAH line for the "25th", or part of this new line??? i'm a bit confused.

THe sets are for collectors of the original 12 inch and 80's ARAH lines, that's why the articulation is in that format Mr. Outback. I hope the info helps. And this years set has some treats for us fans, including Sparks fro the A Real American Hero animated series, and Lt. Claymore from the Episode "The Traitor" Awesome stuff and to top it off We get my all time fav Wrestler as a cobra........I am in total Joe ZEN.

As tkprime said, this year's 3.75" box set commemorates the 25th Anniversary of 3.75" scale G.I.Joe toyline...that's why is shares the old Real American Hero figure construction. It's not, per se, part of the 25th Anniversary figure collection though.

I love the fact he's part of Destro's Forces (I'm hoping that he gets a vehicle for an exclusive, that would rock, and if anyone goes and could get me one I'll pay the costs. (just wanna say that).

...curious.Hey, as long as I make the list, I will be happy. I am still puzzled that they can't make a new Sgt. Slaughter cause of the JAKKS licensing, but Piper is ok to be made. I would figure they were under the same agreement since Piper has been made by JAKKS recently and seen on WWE television.

Heard somewhere that the loophole is that they are convention exclusives instead of mass produced. Which is why Sgt. Slaughter was made at last years joecon. Could be shananagans though.

Looks like they might used 93 Kens Masters head sculpt. I hope not because it really doesn't look like Rowdy Piper.
