View Full Version : Captain Carstein - My War Room

These are some pics of my War Room which also serves as my library, and a studio for painting wargaming miniatures and Joe customs. Mostly lots of crap I got when I was an Army officer and dreamed of being a Military History Prof one day.
I've had a lot of these pics in my albums for awhile, so chances are that some of you may have seen them. I just recently updated my display case, so I thought that would be a good excuse to post everything in a thread so more folks could check them out. Enjoy!
First up, my display case that I usually have my painted wargaming armies in, but for now I've crammed in about 90% of my 25th/ME figs in there along with some other stuff. Unfortunately, I had to take out most of my vehicles to fit the figs in. The glass and mirror in the back are highly reflective, so I had to take the pictures at some kooky angles. Sorry.

There is so much cool stuff here that I just don't even care about the toys. The military collection is what rocks the most. Is all of it original? And was that Rommel I saw in there too?

Most of it. Some replicas. I mean, that's not the real "Narsil" hanging on the wall... :)
The Rommel prints or the mini bust? Maybe you're talking the photograph... all yes. The other little photos are military pics of some German ancestors, late 1800's and WWI.
I have a life sized bust (head actually) of Rommel from some museum out east. I keep it in storage for now. Plus, it's kind of creepy...

What are all of the paintings on the wall? As someone who holds a bachelors in history those are really interesting. It looks like there is Saratoga, Washington, Gettysburg/ Bull Run/Antietam? and is one the French Revolution? It is hard to make them out.

For the most part, I try to do that. :) It gets messy sometimes when I break out the Dremel Stylus and start converting miniatures (ie. Chopshop).

Thanks, it works out pretty slick for the most part.

Yes, I play Warhammer. My main armies are Vampire Counts, Empire, and Kislev. (Viking army for Ancients) We have a cool local campaign every year. Here's last year's website: The Warbringers (http://thewarbringers.com/warbringers/)
Some of us got into War of the Ring this Summer, so I'm finishing up a Dwarf army right now and hope to work on an Easterling/Khand one this Winter.
I have an Imperial Guard army for Warhammer 40k, but I have not played for awhile (next Summer's project). I also play Pirates, Legend of the High Seas, Flames of War (WWII), and various other historiacal miniature wargames from time to time.

Most of them are Napoleon and Napoleonic era battles and stuff. There are also a couple Franco-Prussian War, Frederick the Great and some Seven Years War stuff, the Charge of the 1st Minnesota at Gettysburg, and a couple of Rommel in the desert. I have a few in the front room too that include Washington at Valley Forge, Little Round Top, Kursk, and Alexander at the Battle of Issus. I can give you an exact run down if you're really interested.
I got most of them when I was at Ft. Hood, TX and owned a house. I have a little less space right now... :)

This is similar to what my dream toy room would be like if i had the room.
Is that SS Visor original?
I collect German K98 bayonets so thats what i'd have displayed next to my Joe cabinet as well as a stack of Marine and Japanese WW2 helmets and Japanese katanas.

Wow once again a great display of military history and a cool display case. You certainly make it look amazing. I really enjoy military history and would love to have a room just like this. Rommel is my all time favorite General and that bust sounds bad ass!

Thanks! Although I already have the authentic British dust goggles/eye shield, I need to buy a general's cap for that head someday and figure out a good way to display it along with a collar and his medals.
