My weekend haul! ...in from my garage. :)

I was organizing and digging around in my garage this weekend and I decided to bring in all my vintage Joe boxes I could find (Still missing the Cobra Hammerhead and maybe a few others). These pics are just the boxes. I have the vehicles stored elsewhere.

This represents roughly 1/3 of my vintage collection and most of the stuff I originally bought myself back in the day. I was collector back then too, and I kept everything as a kid. :)

The Joe FLAK Attack Cannon was the first vehicle I bought on the day I got my first Joes.

I got my first Cobra Stinger up in Canuckland on a trip in Manitoba.

I guess I got a couple good deals at Kay Bee...

Thanks for looking. Hopefully you enjoy the pics and leave a little comment to bump the thread.

That's awesome; I especially love seeing the old prices and seeing what the stuff goes for on eBay or cons nowadays. I mean $14.99 for a BUGG? I spend that much a SuperCuts and I still go away w/ a crappy haircut.

I say post that 1st pic over at some other Joe/toy website and just say your an MOC collector. LOL! It's the same thing when it comes to vehicles. I mean it's one thing collecting MOC when it's figure and you can see the toy through the blister, but MOC vehicles in closed boxes and a guy might as well collect just boxes. Hahahahahaha

Thanks guys!

I wish someone would make and sell posters out of all the old vintage box art.

Absolutely! I've wished that for a long time. Although I'd like to figure out a way to display these someday in a "Joe" room, I thought about cutting off the front of a few and framing them.

Very nice. You should leave them just like that :D

Yeah, unfortunately the left side of the set up collapsed about 30 seconds after I took the pic. Plus, my TV is behind there. :)

Yeah, I had fun seeing the prices on a bunch of the boxes. Not only seeing some I got on sale, but also all the different places that used to sell GI Joes.

That is more epic than anything on TV. Well, except for Fringe, and Phinneas and Ferb. Other than those 2, much more epic.

True. :) Plus I don't have cable right now... only use the TV for movies and watch sports on the internet.

Wow! That is effin' beautiful Cap! I like how you displayed them by year also. I have to say, they are in pretty nice shape except for the Terror Dome.

Now where are the pics of the vehicles?

Yeah, that box has seen better days. It kept many of its little brothers safe inside, but was never packed totally full. Then when my parents moved in '98, they put ropes around it and smashed in the top and bottom. :( It only had empty boxes inside, why Mom why?...

Now where are the pics of the vehicles?

Working on it...

Is it just me, or does the earliest stuff look a lot better than the earlier stuff?

Funny, I only have 2 boxes. You don't have either. A JUMP and a Tiger PAW, and I could get rid of the Tiger PAW.

Holy Cow Captain, that is an Awesome collection. I just started collecting boxed vehicles. I am also a huge fan of the box art of the Joe and Cobra vehicles/planes etc. Now I am focusing on obtaining full uncut file cards with store price stickers still attached.

I agree with you I love to buy boxed vehicles and full cardbacks and seeing what store the figure/vehicle was purchased at and for how much. I think I have about 5 vehicles now with the boxes. S.N.A.K.E., Zartan, Serpentor, SkyHawk and MISB L.C.V. I would someday like to buy a H.I.S.S., F.A.N.G., VAMP and a few others.

I love the old style of how Hasbro packaged the vehicles. I do not like the new style when they did 25th anniversary of the front being all plastic and a small picture on the sides of the boxes. I like how some of the POC has the small window for the figure and the rest is box art.

I can't get over how cool of picture that is to see all those piled up. Thanks for sharing your collection.

I think this would be a big hit for Hasbro. I would GLADLY pay $50 for a hardcover book that has all pictures of the box art (front, side and back) of vehicles from 1982-1990 and all carded figures (front and back). This would make a really cool book.

I would as well. Actually, I'd pay a lot more.

Congrats on your collection, Captain Carstein. Can't wait for the day I finally start collecting Joe art/boxes.

Turns out most of them fit nicely inside each other and in the bigger boxes, so not too much room required. Put them inside a couple of large black garbage bags and they fit nicely in the attic on top of my little garage space. :)
