I just realized that there was 25th Ann. figures a few months ago. I am playing catchup trying to get them. I am spending way too much time and money on Ebay and internet stores! It is all worth it!

I started collecting or should I say playing with GI Joes around 1986 at the age of 5. I was unable to get most the older figures new, I would have opened them anyway if i did of course! I traded or bought most second hand. Late High School early college a few friends and I expanded our collection some when everyone else our age was selling off their collections cheap for quick cash on the internet.

I am totally reliving my childhood right now! I am having memories I have not had in years just seeing the retro packaging! Where I was when I got the figures, ones I got for Christmas. Figures my father liked. He was a force recon marine in Vietnam and was my real life GI Joe! He died in 1991. The friends I haven't seen since elementary school who I spend hours playing with, just found 2 of them on facebook! Great trades I made, Figures I always wanted and never got. The coveted USS Flagg, which my cousins had! Vehicles destroyed "in battle", MIA figures and weapons. Figures rescued and restored to fight another day. If I put on some 80s music or an 80s movie the memories grow even stronger!

This is the closest I can get to getting in a time machine and reliving these cherished childhood memories. I hope the same is true for those of you my age and that those new to the GI Joe world will have the same memories I have.

Welcome my friend. I guess I had sort of the same situation as evopete. I played with Joes back in the mid 80's. Had a ton. Then my Mom boxed them all up and they stayed in storage for years. Then as I'm moving into a new house a few years back, she asked me to take them so she would have room. When I did, it was like reliving my childhood all over again. Then I found out somewhere around the 3rd or 4th wave of 25th that they existed and blew a ton of money catching up. Then I pretty much purchased them all except for variants. Vehicles and Comic 2 packs too.

Now ROC is out, and POC is coming. I just about have all ROC. POC, I'm afraid, I'll be a completist also. This is such an enjoyable hobby. I just wish I had more space for display. I have to cycle things in and out of tubs.

Again, welcome to the tank. Check back daily. This site is filled with amazing people and information. A truely great community and a wealth of data for collectors and customizers alike!

guys, thanks for the feedback! Big Lots is where I made my discovery! Found some a Family Dollars as well. Most were in "the hood" but I love the 80's prices. Everywhere else pretty much dried up except for some strays. I am waiting on a huge lot of sealed figures I got on ebay to nearly complete my collection. Only problem is I will have tons of doubles now!

I am only limiting my collection to the single figures waves 1-13. The retro packaging is what got me hooked! Of course they discontinue the line right before I started collecting!

Welcome to the Tank. This is a great place for Joe news and discussions. The 25th line got me back into collecting and I haven't stopped since. I too experienced many nostalgic feelings picking these up. Enjoy your new collection and I hope to see you jump in on many of the great threads on here. Also, the Rise of Cobra line had some great figures and the Pursuit of Cobra looks even better so check them out if you still have the hunger after completing your 25th collection.
