View Full Version : What are Slurp Spiders???

I was just looking at who is currently online and of the 25 or so guests most of them are something that says slurp spider. One of them was viewing a user profile and I have never heard that term before. Is that normal? Should I feel dumb for askin' that?

Slurp Spiders are internet robots that pull information from all over the internet. When "You" type in a command in a search browser, it's those Spiders that are out and about hunting down that info :)

Actually...they're a mutant breed of insect that are bent on total global domination.They're pissed that Cobra-La failed and they're here to finish the job! :O

Thank you. I thought they were something like that, but had never heard of one. Now that I know, I like the "Actually" explanation better.

actually there quite harmless unless you dont want big brother pulling personal info for others to see

One time over at a forum I mod at, we had several hundred Yahoo Slurp spiders indexing our forums. It slowed the site down to a crawl. It was the oddest thing I've ever seen indexing spiders do.

I THINK because they "Slurp" the information off of the "Web" but I'm just guessing.
