don't be surprised if that is the GI JOE movie trailer, and that explosion is a dirty bomb sold to COBRA by none other than Destro himself.
...call me crazy, but i don't know.

theres a leaked version supposedly on the net already. they said it was supposed to be godzilla but they lost the rights to the movie so they created their own character. Supposedly, the movie focus more on the people during this whole thing than showing more of the monster itself during the movie.

Well I first thought it was Godzilla when I heard the name.
Cloverfield:Spines on Godzillas back look like clovers:Godzilla's back is a 'Cloverfield' (CONINCIDENCE?!)
It looks pretty good but I don't know if it's worth the movie ticket to watch.

That pic has been debunked as a video game monster design from a few years ago.

Cloverfield is the name of an old airfield by JJ Abrams' office. Last I heard and if I recall correctly it's just a place holder name like Blue Harvest. But I could be wrong.

I have found some new pictures of the monster in Cloverfield. They are fan-art by people who have seen the movie.

Well, considering all the trailers and television spots refer to it as Cloverfield, and the film opens this week, yeah, it's a safe bet that you're wrong.

People on the net assumed that Cloverfield was just a place-holder name because they expect something referring to, you know, a giant monster ripping NYC apart. So all along the filmmakers were basically hiding the real title in plain sight, counting on the over-analytic minds of internet movie geeks to do their work for them. And they did.

Yeah, that's basically what I had heard, of course it was over a year ago... so I hadn't heard anything since.
Too bad my computer here at work doesn't have speakers... I wanna hear this trailer as I'm watching it, lol.

Well, I won't post any spoilers...though they are out there on the net if you want 'em...but the wife and I went to see Cloverfield today, and it met all my expectations. Which is to say, it was an entertaining flick about an enormous, terrifying monster ripping the sh** out of Manhattan.
The monster, which I couldn't describe even if I wanted to...and not for lack of trying...would give H.R. Giger worse night terrors than he already has. Terrifying. Fun. Just don't expect anything Oscar-worthy; it is just a monster movie.

I saw it last night; the monster was weak...a visual piece of cr@p. As for the movie itself...it had it's moments. I'd say avoid the lines and wait a week or so to see it...or maybe just download it off the net. A B-/C+ at best.

Harsh, I thought it was a refreshing take on the monster movie franchise. I didn't get sick, didn't see a connection between the movie and 9/11 and though the monster was pretty good. Having said that I now openly invite you to direct something better jdizz. I'm sure you have a Sony handycam sitting around and mastery in CG animation....right? How hard can it be?

Ive seen it twice already, and have to say, It really held up on a second viewing. I was able to kinda know what was coming up and I noticed more things (like the thing at the veeeerrry end, not the credits, but right before the credits) that i didnt notice the first time.
All in all I loved it. It was exactly what it was trying to be. I loved the creature design even, and seeing it a second time, you can kinda get a better idea of what it looks like since its just such an odd design.
I loved it, im a schmook, what can i say.

I think the character design lacked originality and the minis were a complete rip-off of Starship Troopers. Plus, while the handycam "blare witch" angles did provide a sense of drama...the story supporting the direction never went anywhere; we never found out anything about the monsters origins, nor did we find out...

Spoiler warning! (if you want to stay spoiler free before watching this film you shouldnt be reading this forum 3 days after it opened in the first place)
Lame and meh. The ENTIRE 1st reel can be skipped as nothing important, even slightly, happens until 19 minutes into it. Some may argue that this time is important for you the viewer to get to know the characters. What characters? Abrahms fails in this regard. Thats ok, I'm here to see a monster destroy New York! Another fail for Abrahms here as well. Yes, New York gets damaged pretty good but its not a city wipe out on a scale unseen before in cinema as other "movie reviewers of the internet" say (aint it cool, chud). My cat can hold a camera better than the dude in the movie did. The small monsters suck. The main monster looks like a bland godzilla villian. This is the blair witch of monster movies for sure but thats like saying its the blair witch of musicals. Some things just don't work. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 2.
Better monster movies (in every way):
The Host
About 20% of Godzilla films
The Thing
War of the Gargantuas
The Nanny Diaries

I guess a lot of my love from the movie comes from my experience with a camera. I used to work production for a couple of different tv stations in my area. Well, being behind the camera is a bit of an addiction, and Ive taped while being out with friends just screwing around and what not, so imagining taping a night out with the friends, and then all of a sudden #*$t hits the fans, I can imagine that it would be crazy. I come from the side that loved blair witch, so I imagine its the same deal there. It just feels like something real and tangable, because you only know what the group knows, what Hud knows, and that aspect I loved. I love not knowing what it is, because knowing where it came from would piss probably the same amount of people off as not knowing.
As for the very end *SPOILER* When the tape goes to the last *one month ago* segment, right before rob and beth claim it to being the best day ever, watch on the right hand of the screen when the camera is looking at the ocean. You can see something big come in from the sky and land in the water. Really kinda outta place if you see it.

After the credits run there is a sound byte. I wasn't sure what it was when I first saw it, so I checked around. Some people say they hear "help us" or "it's still alive".
I missed the object falling from the sky before the credits even though I was looking for something. I guess I'll have to see it again now.

from my understanding, the soundbite at the very end is backwards, and when played in reverse, it says "It's still alive". Abrams loves this kinda stuff.
