View Full Version : 1/6th Scale Accessories for Sideshow Joes?
I'm new to collecting 1/6th scale figures. Is there anywhere online I can buy accessories for Sideshow-sized Joes? Specifically, I'm looking for guns (sniper rifle), binoculars, goggles, and any other gear that would work...

G.I. Joe Forum Discussions at The Terror Drome View topic - 1/6 Scale Vendor/Brand Evaluation (http://www.theterrordrome.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=188&t=5878)
I have been in to the 1/6 scale / 12" Joe market since the Classic Collection started in the 90's. I really got in to it when the Ultimate Soldier line came out. I lost interest for awhile and then last year I went to the Sacramento Joe show and my interest was rekindled. Through the last year I have purchased different brands, from different vendors. Some manufacturers are better than others on some items and not so good on others. Same thing applies to the dealers. There are not many storefronts in this hobby, other than the occassional show I find everything on the internet. I have even rec'd items from Australia, Singapore, China and Taiwan. I learned a lot through trial and error. Not too many folks here are in to the 12" side of the hobby but, if I can help some who are or might be, learn from my experience it could save time and money. I use accessories from many different manufacturers in my 12" Joe's. My evaluations are from my own experience, others may disagree.
Manufacturers
Dragon:
$ Complete figures start around $20 and go up. For the money a good place to start. Decent bodies, uniforms and weapons. I don't care for the plastic/molded boots anymore. I prefer the lace ups but, they do cost more. Most accessories are molded plastic versus the appropriate material. Much easier to assemble than some of the others.
BBI Elite Force:
$$ Complete figures start @ around $50. Hit or miss for me. Some items are very nice and others are less so. Mix of molded plastic and material appropriate accessories. I used a lot of their gear in my Tripwire figure.
Soldier Story
$$$ Complete figures start around $80. Very nice figures, gear, material appropriate accessories, lace up boots. My favorite manufacturer. Awesome weapons. Can be difficult to assemble because it is very much like the real thing (MOLLE, PALS).
Toy Soldier
$$$ similar to Soldier Story. Gear is usually easier to assemble because they use plastic instead of webbing to affix the pouches to the armor.
Hot Toys
$$$$ Very Expensive. Weapons are scaled a little on the large side. I don't have too much experience with them. I wasn't very satisfied with an OTV vest i bought. The sideshow joe stuff they have made have had some really cool points and some detractions as well for me.
Playhouse/Saturday Toys
$$$ on par with Soldier Story as far as accessories. decent weapons. Their Marine RCT figure is great.
