I'll avoid cartoons and I'll separate this into 2 or 3 stages:
As a kid, I remember loving Captain Power. Its purpose was to sell toys, sure... but JMS sure managed to deliver a very serious short lived live action sci-fi adventure series for us kids back then. BTW they say that they stole the concept for the BORG from Lord Dredd and his evil plan.
As a... uhm, still a kid, I watched the entire run of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I eventually saw all of the 5 series, but this is the one that got me into it.
As of today, I don't watch any series. Just dunno why. I should try Galactica (new take).
BTW, Space: Above & Beyond was as short lived as it was interesting, too.

Its all good buddy, the first TZ came out in the early 60's Rod Serling was the dudes name. I was born in 73' so it was old to me in the late 70's and 80's. Then there was the late 80's version that most of us are aware of. That dude was creepy! He had another show called Night Gallery...very creepy...

i seen a episode of the B&W series a while back. the guy who played "Mick" on rocky was really young in this episode about books.
one episode in color thats stuck in my head is where this guy would say stop or freeze and everyone would freeze. he saved the world from a comet but at the cost of being alone. very erie

The episode with Mick is called "the bookworm", I love that episode. The other is with a dude named "Dick York" he was the original Darren Stevens on "Bewitched" in the 60's. The witch chic...remember on Nic at nite???
